PHOTOBUCKET

Photobucket is about to put themselves out of business with this. I have an old account with them that I just deleted and closed. They already spam users with a non-stop bombardment of ads and now they pull this crap?

See you in the financial pages under "bankruptcy" asshats!

Yup. I did not like Flicker after they "made improvements" (They are now part of the Yahoo military industrial complex) and had been using Photobucket some. I've been using Imgur, it isn't too bad

Wonderful. I haven't been thrilled with photobucket as of late, seems like their website has been getting slower and slower recently. I've been using them for a long time. I'm even a paying customer with them, I needed the extra bandwidth because I use them to host a good chunk of all the pictures I post. If they go through with enforcing that 3rd party hosting deal it'll pretty much kill the majority of pictures in my posts and build threads. On this forum and others. My build threads I can probably fix, but there's no way I'll be able to update links and pictures in the thousands of posts I have just on this forum.

While it's awesome that FABO is hosting pictures of decent size and quality now, you only have to go back and look at what happened to the attachments after the last upgrade to know why a lot of people use Photobucket. Pretty much every time a forum upgrades their software in a big way all the attachments go away. Which is why I started using photobucket, because it's a heck of a lot easier to just post the link once and not worry about it. Not to mention you can use the same link on multiple sites, rather than having to add attachments over and over again, keeping track of what sites allow what size pictures, making sure you re-size everything to fit etc.

Seems like they must need to upgrade their equipment to handle their bandwidth and don't have the money. If they actually go through with that plan they'll have no problems with bandwidth, no upgrades needed. Of course, they won't have any customers either. Pretty sure all that advertising has to actually reach someone for them to get paid too.

My life has been fine without all of that. Getting by with email, a scanner etc. -- No Facebook. -- Old Fashioned, I guess.

I've been using them for years. Site has been getting shitty for a while now. I haven't gotten any notices yet about the charge that everyone is talking about that I've noticed. Guess it's just a matter of time.

I've just registered domainname for a possible similar and easy-to-use imagehosting setup, but related to Mopar sites and forum.
Not sure if I'll pull through with it yet.

Google Photos free app.
Backs up all my photos for free and automatic from my Android Phone.
Easy drag and drop upload from your PC or Tablet too.
Easy to create Albums
Easy to share
Quit using photobucket when I realised I had Google Photos.

Yup I let my server and website go last year and was using photobucket. Time to get a server and site again.

All my scale modeling discussion groups are pretty torn up about this. A couple of them are still Network54 and they sponsor PB. I had to stop using photosuckit some 6-7 years ago when the ads started hanging up my browser. About a month ago I started picking through my accounts saving photos I don't have on my computer any more. One is done & closed, one is almost done and the third is my Duster resto pics and I'm still trying to remember the login.

Welcome to myspace hell, photobucket. You deserve it.

Ken

Trying to log into PB but it's taking forever to load and pop up ads make it impossible to see my buckett. :mob:
PhotoPhukett... :BangHead:

Got logged in this AM and was able to download all of my Pictures and Albums in zip folders.
Was going to delete my account too but decided to just leave it sitting :icon_fU:
Don't care what they do now...

Was just there....site opened fine and quick for me...only 1 ad, when I signed on...none after that...just as fast as always...seems fine to me. (shrug)

Just like a drug dealer...

Get them hooked on free samples, then charge them when they are hooked....

There is a way to post up any..yes any pic with flickr but for those that you can't "view image" to get the html you have to get the "view image source" instead and copy the light in all of the mish mash code with the jpeg in it. It works and flickr is totally free

I keep mine on a hard drive and upload them when I post so the links don't ever get broken...

Slantsix.org lost a shitload of pics when their hosting went belly-up. Shame, there were tons of useful pics on that site, and alot of mine! I liked picasa too (pick pic, upload and copy tag, then link) but Google canned it for their clumsy online photo app. Im so glad Joey is hosting the pics on the site, so easy to upload a photo. Thanks Joey!

I received two emails from Photobucket yesterday telling me that my account would be limited to no third party hosting so I guess I need to find a new place to store my photos. I have over 2000 photos on Photobucket. Most are directly tied to threads here on FABO. Is there a limit on the number of photos you can store here in your "garage"? Do they allow linking to other sites such as Moparts?
