So I have 17x7 inch torque thrust wheels with a 4 inch backspace on my 69. Well one side rubs a little. So why not just get 2 wheels with a 4.5 inch backspace. Right? Well they make them, BUT they are over 200.00 more EACH then the ones with the 4 inch backspace!!!!

Can you shift the rear over a little by loosening the u bolts.So I have 17x7 inch torque thrust wheels with a 4 inch backspace on my 69. Well one side rubs a little. So why not just get 2 wheels with a 4.5 inch backspace. Right? Well they make them, BUT they are over 200.00 more EACH then the ones with the 4 inch backspace!!!!

I am thinking I might try that. Plenty of room on the Driver side.
Cheaper then new wheels.
I was thinking I could sell the ones I have for something, they are new, but the difference is overwhelming.
You could take a die grinder and open it up, and put a bushing in there to hold it.
That sounds like a good idea. Open it up, then weld in a bushing to hold it.

Drill new holes 3/8” and be done with it. No bushing no worries.
Yes, that is what I did, got it in just the rite spot and welded in the bushing.

This started by changing out the axles and brakes, to get rid of the no longer available 1 1/3 brakes. And the re-drilled axles. Got DR. Diff axles, and, just as stated here, they are 1/4 inch wider on each side.
I'd roll the lip.
we used one of those on my buddy's GTO. worked great.
