Are they the same? Picked up what I thought was a clutch style sure grip. Took it part to clean it up and the clutch pack looks like a dana kit (no thin one and only one curved) Are they the same, interchangeable wrong clutches installed??

What you have there is a power loc.
They also made other types.
Track loc, Detroit locker, ect.....

The ones you have pictured are for the power loc.
Track loc's have 2 locating tabs rather than 4.
Is this power loc for a Dana 60?

Not sure what it is for. Was hoping to use it in my 8.75

You need to confirm your power loc unit is made for your particular 8.75 case. Use your case#. 489 or ?
Order power loc clutches sized for it if it is a match to your case.

Measure the diameter where the ring gear mounts. That'll help you figure out what it's for. Unless someone can tell by looking at it.

The only numbers on it is 306 on both sides of cases. No other numbers on it.

Any ideas?
Same spline count
8.75 ring gear bolts right up
Same width
Bearings are smaller (can't see any numbers) comparing to my 741 open bearings

.........all the 8.75 units i've had have had numbers on them ending with an X..plus the date......kim........
I agree. x plus date.
Maybe Cass Dr Diff can help. That unit could be one of the newer production ones.

That is an aftermarket 8.75" power-lock. It uses a standard Dana 44 clutch pack.
Great! Thanks.
Can you point me to the correct clutch pack? I looked on your site and only saw them for a Dana 60
And would this be the correct clutch sequence?
