I stripped the 440 down last week and took the block to the machinist this week. I also managed to find a NOS 440 forged steel crank in the original Ma Mopar box for it. It went also to be cleaned and balanced. Not sure but the crank may be an original 6 pack crank. If it is I may do something different for the crank. Once it is cleaned I am gonna look for numbers on it as it is still covered in cosmoline and not alls visible. The tag had fallen off the box. I would rather save it for someone who is doing a numbers correct resto.

Just some quick updates. Replaced both lower a pillars. Haven't finished completely so there still some weld boogers. that need ground down. Be easy I haven't welded since A/P school over twenty years ago. That was oxy. acetelene. I bought me a Hobart handler 190 mig. Thanks for checking it out.

I like my Duster but them Demons always seemed to be about 3 steps cooler. - Lookin' good!

Should be it for now. The paint I ended up going with is Viper Blue PPG DBC base with Southern Polyuerethane Universal Clear. Keep in mind this is MY first time of doing body work and I jumped in feet first. Been a slow road to this point. Thanks for the interest.

awesome progress. i look forward to seeing your build come together.

I think your scale is about 50lbs light! Looks good, wish my engine compartment was that far done.

I think your scale is about 50lbs light! Looks good, wish my engine compartment was that far done.

Could be but with aluminum RPM heads intake and water pump housing ??? Scale is from ebay so who knows. I know on the mock up it didn't take a lot on torsion bars to set suspension at stock height. I've been almost four years getting here. Thank you.

Looks like you're doing just fine with the painting stuff!

Thank you. Lot of reading etc. Just hoping for a good 10 footer. Not making a trailer queen want to drive it. It's been together and apart a few times, should have used wing nuts. But wanted to get all the unknowns figured out with the 440 going in known before painting

Well the weather here has slowed me down some. This is some little projects I've completed. Rear brakes are now built up. 11x2 1/2.

Looking good so far! Looking forward to more updates on this project, keep up the good work.

Well we hit a blistering 20 degrees today. I made my reinforcements for my torsion bar cross member. I used a 2 1/4" hole saw to make the holes that wrap around the socket. Then a saws all to make the shape. The metal is just 1/8" thick mild steel. The notches are there for the fuel and brake lines to pass thru the crossmember. I made templates out of card board. With the hole saw it leaves about an 1/8" gap to the torsion bar socket. Hopefully tomorrow I will get them welded in. Thanks for the interest.

These are some of the latest updates. In the view of the torsion bar crossmember reinforcements, I forgot to turn on the argon in the first set of tack welds. I did the plates both front and rear, completely welding around the outside and the socket to plate. The disc brakes are the 11.75". All factory parts. I did get the caliper brackets from Dr Diff. I caught the calipers on sale at Rock Auto a while back. One side was 13$ other was 16$ rotors were also on sale. I went this route primarily because I didn't have caliper cores for the smaller set up, and the core was more than buying the brackets and calipers. Yesterday I installed the engine and transmission hopefully for the last time. Didn't install headers yet, waiting on starter, then the fun starts. So everything is kind of sitting there. Trans is from CRT with a PTC 9.5" converter. Waiting on warm weather for rest of body work. Hopefully I can have the underside of car done before then. I wanna hear this thing run, been four years and I am getting antsy. Thanks for looking.

I worked on my dash cluster this week end. I bought a re pop bezel and tachometer for this a while back. I also did the conversion for the ammeter to the voltmeter. I set the gauge to where it shows half scale at 12.5 volts. I did have to space the gauge to get it even with the other gauges. I took the lenses apart and polished them as well as repainting the center pieces for the lenses. I had to drill the hole for the trip odometer reset as well as rework the bezel where the steel reinforcement on top slides into it. I did check all the gauges using a nine volt battery to make sure they did operate, just looking for deflection. The pointers on the gauges I painted using some model paint. Thanks for looking.

any updates lately? love to see some pics with your new wheels on it :)

Weather has been so crappy here lately. I've been really working on the underside. I installed leaf spring sliders, pulled rear end (again), made all my brake lines for the rear axle. If the weather ever breaks I will be back on body work. Hoping to have it to where I can start it. New trans is installed, still gotta make cooler lines. So no big advances but getting there. This is the Strange S-60 I had built with the 11" brakes installed. Gotta clean it and paint before going back in hopefully tomorrow. Set the pinion angle and welded on perches. Thanks for the interest.
