lets revive this post...... USMS 1986-1990 supply. PI, Lejune (yes I drank the bad water), 29 Palms.... lovely 29 Palms...
 
Joined in 64 to avoid getting drafted into the Army where it was a sure thing to get handed a rifle and sent to Vietnam. Navy sent me there without a rifle. Served up river a while on LST 821, USS Harnett County supporting riverine patrol craft, PBR's.
Long story short, I did 12 years active, 10 years reserves, retired from my civilian job, and am now enjoying the benefits of my service.

Homestead AFB, Ellsworth AFB, Azores Portugal, Altus AFB
 
USMC, '70/76, Pendleton, LeJune, Quantico, Cherry Point, New River, Kbay, RVN (when we turned out the lites an' shut the door.)
 
USAF 80-86 , F4 C,D,G,F aircraft mechanic, Spangdalem Germany, Seymour Johnson AFB. , Reserve For Desert Storm.

Camp Atterbury is about 15 minutes North of me. I spent some time there also.

Just lost my Father recently.
WW2, Korea, and Vietnam! Was a badass soldier and the best Father ever! Both my brother are also Veterans! One is retired. The other is on 30! He been deployed 14 times! He made it and is finally done! Sorry for the long post! I usually don't talk about this! Most don't want to here it!
 
US Army from 89-98, deployed to the Persian Gulf 3x, 90-91, 96, 97-98, stationed in Karlsruhe and Hanau, Germany in engineer brigade, my mos 63b, light wheel vehicle mechanic, also worked as a 63s, heavy wheel mechanic, 52d generator mechanic, also a boat mechanic while in engineering brigade- assault float bridge unit
 
No Canadians !!??? Served in the Royal Canadian Navy 1963-74 as a sonarman. Good times - good Navy! ( the "old" Navy!)

Same thing for US Navy, I was in from 82-2006, went from pretty good to "Kinder, Gentler" Navy. Funny how that works. BTW my father was a sonarman, pretty cool and THANKS!

Just wanted to say thank you to all the old salty hard dicks on here that blazed the trail long before I was even born
 
Served 31 years 7 months 3 days, now retired, if you wish I can get it down to hours and minutes if you wish. 3 Days shy of 180 days overseas duty, time in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar. If asked I would go back today, the most frightful time, twice when the plane landed and when it took off the runway. You really didn't know if someone was pointing a launcher at you or not! What I missed over there, GREEN, green grass, green tress, green crops. Plenty of camel toe to look at, working toilets, at the best scarce. A young pic of me, I still had some hair left...the days.

US Army 2002-2007 13F Fire support specialist was stationed in Giessen Germany went to Iraq 03-04, 06-07 with 1st Armored Division. Dustin
 
USMC Infantry 2009-2012, 3rd Battalion 5th Marine Regiment, stepped on an IED in Sangin, Afghanistan in 2010... The reason I drive with my left foot lol.
 
LCPL USMC. i was stationed at MCAS Camp Pendleton. i was an aviation ordnance tech. UH-1N and AH-1W helicopters.
