so, look at this
a little U profile, 6 inches long
3/4 in between the legs, and 3/4 inch long legs...maybe a whole inch

in the center is a hole, through both legs, and a speed nut, nutzert whatever you call it on there

this will slide over an the edge of the drywall and allow you to install a vent register in the ceiling, pinching the drywall and spreading the load and allowing you to install it without ripping out the drywall

so WHY DOESNT ANYONE MAKE THIS?

cant say i've ever seen them before but they sure do look cool
look like the kind of thing i might order, just to have it around when i need it

(for now, this is my go to anchor, in metal or plastic)

BUT i dont know if iether one will work for the register application, simply because of how close to the edge the anchor goes

I Worked on a large office complex doing hvac work installing all the grills and I would make these alll the time to install the grills into the brittle ceiling tiles.
