  1. 1964-66 Door Hinges - Using 1967-76 Style

Hello Abody people,My info is on what I did to use the 67-76 abody door hinge set on my 66’ Barracuda early Abody car. I’ve stripped a lot of abody cars and could never tell why there is a difference. I found out today. How come you can only buy 67-76 style hinges and they don’t fit the early abody cars? I bought a complete set off EBAY and it came with new bolts and it was the correct bolts too. 4 boxes labeled left, Right, lower and same for top. 67-76 AbodyThey arrived safe and sound...
  2. How To Replace Trunk Torsion Springs with Lift Struts

I have been looking for good trunk torsion springs for my 69 Dart GT convertible. Well to no avail... So I will put struts in the trunk to keep it up... The struts I use are from a 1996 Ford Windstar. I did the same in a 66 Dart GT but did not document the process, so this time I will. More to come... You will need 2 struts, and four ball mounts. The Windstar has only two screw in ball mounts, on the bottom. So you will need to get 2 more from another Windstar. The struts are 26 inches...
  3. How To Fix a Broken Stud on a 69 Reflector Bezel

Do you have a set of 69 cast reflector bezels, and upon removal snap a cast in stud. That sinking feeling that goes along with what just happened followed by an oh shit this is going to cost me !!!Follow along. I have a fix for you. Its not OEM, but it will do the job, and let you still use the funny looking bulbed nuts.See below the reflector bezel i have. First thing i did was grind the stud flat, and drill a centered pilot hole. Then i enlarged the hole, and ran a self tapping...
  4. Simple way to replace inner wheel well lip and Quarter panel install tips!

So, I decided to replace the quarter panel on the 66' and when cutting off the outer skin I found the inner wheel well lip gone. Some of the lip actually needed to go into the wheel well area. Now this repair is the same way I've been doing this for over 35 years. Some have an issue with it, but it works and is do-able by almost anyone with some mechanical skills and a small welder. If you don't agree with my methods- then use what you can and add your own. I like to spot weld in the...
  5. Cleaning Wheels with Acid

So you bought some old crusty steel wheels and want a quick way to remove all that nasty rust?Get yourself 2 gallons of good 'ol cheap pool acid from the local big box store. I think it was 7 bucks at my Home Depot. Pour both into a plastic garbage can or other receptacle that is big enough to lay a rim in on its face. A 30 gallon trash can was perfect for a 14 inch rim, probably a 15 too.Place rim in bottom carefully while wearing some heavy rubber gloves or use a hook to lower it in....

  7. Barracuda Formula S Emblem Info.....

Ok, some discussion about the Plymouth Barracuda emblems has had me thinking and I had to look for more info. Seems a lot of people think the 65-68 Formula-S fender emblem is the same. I remember as a kid going to the junk yard with my dad and there were a pair of Formula-S cars there, a 65 & a 66, parked side by side. Dad bought both sets of emblems off the cars to save them instead of let them rot. I later remember him saying that the one set was different than his 66, the mounting studs...
  8. How To: Repairing Plastic Sharktooth Grilles

i have been working on the repair of my sharktooth grille over the last couple of months and I have made some progress that can be shared for other member to try if they are in need of grille repairs. I can't and won't take credit for this process. I read about it somewhere on Moparts and thought i would try it and see how it worked. if anyone reading this thread knows the person who posted this process on moparts, please give him all the credit. In the following pictures you will see...
  9. Duster to Demon Tail Panel Swap

Ok I am going to try this to help anyone wanting to go Duster to Demon. I am converting a 75 Duster so other years may not be the same but should be close. Taking off your Dusters panel will not be too hard. Lot of spot welds need cut out and there are a few spots that were tack welded that will need cut off with a cut off wheel when you find them.First pic is of the spot weld cutter I used. Sorry could not get a good pic of it. If you never used a spot weld cutter before it is not too...

  11. How To: Stainless Steel Trim Restoration

This will be an ongoing thread with how to pics and some words typed to make the pics interesting (kinda like playboy magazine) but for stainless trim restoration LoL. First you need a beat up old crusty piece of stainless steel trim that you actually want to put on your car. For this I got lucky and just happened to have a set of stone guards that dartnewbie wanted for his car,he offered to buy them from me after sending me some free headlight rings for my 64 dart convertible, but I felt it...
  12. Getting Rid of the Hood Torsion Springs on the Early A-Body

I thought I would re-post this in a separate thread for future reference since there is some interest in getting rid of the torsion springs.I welded a grade 8 bolt to the back of the channel bracket. I'm sure you can use something else but I went this route because I can still remove the retaining nut without having to take off the fender in the future. A shoulder bolt will work better which I bought today. shoulder boltExcuse the weld again. Still need more practice at this.I ended up...
