So huge step today. Got the Scamp in the garage. Got the hood off and getting ready to remove the /6 and tranny. Plans are a healthy 440 Auto Cruiser on the weekends.

It never fails that you start a project and figure out you need stuff already lol. Discovered the hood where it meets the hinges is rotted out. Ill post progress but it will be slow. Im a 1 man show and learning as I go.

Glad to see you got it in the garage Josh, let the project begin!LOL.You,ve got tons of room for working in there.Need to see some tools layin around, floors to clean?LOL

My build window is 1 year. But Ive been collecting parts for nearly 2 years now. I sure hope its a runner when Im done.

Who has used a fiberglass hood and like it?

Oh that was right after I got it in and the floors were clean. Not so much now, and tools are out. I have to say who ever invented the AIR RATCHET is a freaking genious.

Cool Scamp! Im building a 70 Dart with 451/470 and Im just as slow if not slower at posting progress pics, lol.

Good deal....looking forward to seeing the build...I like your idea about the best gun salesman...any questions will be answered promptly....your friend Eric

I hope tonight I have the motor out. Im a first timer at alot of this stuff and its a learning process. But im confident. I just need to get off work already and go home and attack it.

Josh, mark all hinges when removing panels, hood, doors, trunklid. This way when re-installing no need for aligning them up for fit.

Take a scratchall and drag along the hinges on the door hinges, hood hinges(oh well, already off)trunk hinges. You know the metal hinges that hold these panels on?LOL

I figured thats what you ment. Now for the noob question. When I go to resurface all this how do you transfer it all over?

This is why you use a scratchall instead of a marker(pen)it,ll leave a deeper scratch in the metal so when repainted, you,ll still see the marks for lining up the doors and such.

Your build is gonna be cool, Josh. I sure wish there was a way for me to get that slant. LOL

You can do it like pettyblue suggested. But what I like for aligning stuff is a pair of 1/8 holes drilled through the hinge and into the sheetmetal behind. That way you can also use a small punch in the holes to help finese them into perfect position. And no scratches!

UPDATE /6 IS OUT. Next out comes the front suspension. Clean up of firewall inner fenders Primer and I have a new BB k frame and suspension to go in.

Looks like you had fun doing that...next time jack up the rear of the car when installing or pulling the engine and tranny together...makes it a little easier...keep up the good work...Eric

Day 3 Got the fenders, bumper and hood latch pulled bagged and tagged. Took the wire wheel round the bay to look for rust. Everything is very solid. I got 1 spot where the battery tray was that may need work but other wise good shape.

Tomorrows plan is to get the /6 loaded for the scrapper. Roll the car out sweep the floor good roll it back and finish dropping the K Frame and load that up.
