Ahh Coolcool. I just said that because I have the lunati voodoo 60104 cam in my hi-po chebby 283, pretty much the same specs as that cam and all the chevy guys were $h!ting their pants and telling me that it was wayy too big for a 289(.040 over 283). Shows how much they know. LOL

Rocker...

most people would be of that opinion that 230@50 is 230@50 but the two cams couldn't be more different..That Lunati cam is nice and only requires about a 100 lbs of seat pressure..While the cam for this 273 might have a tiny bit more duration it requires almost 150 lbs of seat pressure..The lobes on each cam are on different ends of the spectrum...that old saying**you can't tell a book by it's cover** defiantly applies to camshaft duration

on the bench...

Can I send you my 273, and you can just make it awesome for me? I'd appreciate it. :)

Not knowing all the cam's specs... But seeing the duration at .050 and 9.9:1... It's going to let you know there's something there. I would have liked to see a full point higher squeeze and zero deck for a cam like that...lol. Now i'm really interested in t how she does... I've never used Howard's cams... Are they full custom? Do they have a lobe catalog?

Ahh, thanks for the clarification Rob. Im still learning.

Moper...

The only thing in the valve train that's Howards are those springs. They give me 145 lbs at 1.750...
this is the first time I've ever used a Howards product.

What thickness are those head gaskets? My heads are coming off soon (on the list for this winter).

You have to specify how thick you want....027 is as thin as Comitic can make them.

Oh. I was on thier site a while ago and I read the "must run our sorings/lifters " deal I figured you had thier cam too. Sorry about that...

I have the 10.5:1 domed pistons when the freshened heads go back on I"d like everything to stay the same. Car runs excellent now just needs a valve job. Seals are toast.

It's almost time to assemble...the lifter bores were checked with a broaching tool and then polished with 600...
It's time for the final wash...I'm soooo 273ed out.:yawinkle:

Well it's Sunday morning on a long weekend and it's time to check the brg clearances and get the short block together.
I brought it home to assemble ...just nicer more relaxed setting.

I've been waiting about 25 years to use some of the small block parts I have around here.Nice True Roller timing set...
Short block is together and cam is degreed in...
I just have to install the start up valve springs on the heads and bolt them on.Then put the rest of the tin on it and fire up the paint gun and it's a done deal...

Rob is it me or did you sharpen the counter weights of the crank so it will slice through the oil faster?

I gave them a quick going over...I couldn't take off what was really needed because I didn't want to have to put a couple of slugs of Mallory.

It's together and primed...it's the first solid lifter cam that I've used the new EDM lifters with the .020 hole in the face. If I had known that they work as well as they do I would have started this engine with all the valve spring pressure instead of a single spring...
