I'm almost done with my engine project and I'm facing a hard time deciding on a set of muffler for my 318 duster I know I want 2 1/4 all the way to the back so which type of muffler would give me a nice loud v8 sound I'm young lol thanks

I have used the Summit super turbos twice now and I really like the way they sound

Flowmasters are good and loud, I have them on my 66 and love them, I think are 40 series.

thursh welded if you like the flowmaster sound but not the price.flowtech terminators sound really good as well,or bullet pro-turbos.

Ok I like flowmasters but expensive and I was thinking about the super 44 I just wondering if anything else was good out there thanks for the post what about x pipe or h pipe on dual exhaust is it good for street performance

dont use the summit race muffler they are way to loud

thats what I have and will change them next spring

cherry bomb xtrems. got em on my 318 there very loud sound great and are resonably priced. i paid 75 each new for mine compared ti the 100 plus for flows. good luck lots to choose from

Dual Flowmaster 40 on my '68 Dart GT daily driver.

"H" Crossover.

They sound Great across the RPM range (IMHO). 8)

YMMV.

i like the way my old flowtech afterburners sounded, they had alot of v8 sound but i had dual 3" price was good as was the quality, the quality is still ok on them they just seem to have forgoten how to get the inlets and outlets to be straight

i had a single flowmaster delta flow on my stock manifolds and single 2 inch pipe and it sounded good. pretty loud from the back of the car, but failrly quiet on the inside. muffler was very clean sounding, and with duals and headers it would have sounded really nice. i switched to the long tube headers and dual flowmaster 40 series muffler because they are supposedly the loudest. i would agree with that statement because they made my weak 318 sound like it has allot more than it does. although people will be more inclined to race with you :snakeman:. the mufflers sound awesome, but they are very loud and if you plan on driving late at night or early in the morning, your neighbors might not like you so much. ask me how i know :-D :thebirdm: . also, if you plan on having a stereo, make it a good one and dynamat your car. i will be doing all of the previously stated to tone down the noise inside the car. look on flowmasters website for application of each series, and then hit craigslist. i bought my set of 2.5 40 series basically brand new for $100. guy put them on his gto and said they were to loud. pulled them off 2 months later in like new condition. you can find good deals online on used mufflers if you look around a little

Has anyone tried the flowmaster 10 series one chamber muffler I heard they are the most aggressive and loudest ....

dont use the summit race muffler they are way to loud

They dont last that long either, worth the few extra bucks for the Flow masters. I like the super 44's just right, really dont get too loud until higher rpms.

also i can add that with bigger tubing it gets louder, 2 1/4" is almost hard to get disturbingly loud. im looking att borla mufflers right now they are suposed to be loud if you chose there short XR1 line, but they are sertainly not cheap in any way :(

If you want obnoxiously cool loudness look no further than Classic Chambered Powersticks (google 'classic chambered exhaust'). Have them on my Duster with a Pypes 2.5" X-pipe system and they really made it sound unique. Kind of like Flowmasters without the annoying metallic "explosion in the sewers"-type sound if you know what I mean. Certainly not "flabby" sounding like glasspacks either, although that's what they are most similar too. I guess it's just a really really aggressive and sharp open tone they have...

I have a full TTI exhaust and headers with dynomax mufflers. I think it sounds pretty good. The neighbors even commented on how nice it sounds! And they were being serious too!

Best bang for the buck: Thrush welded sound like flowmasters for a fraction of the price
Hush Thrush for quieter operation
