How to remove hub from discs

There was a similar thread where someone was trying to remove the hub from the drum, and a "swedge" tool is required. Is the same procedure required for rotors and hub for 69 barracuda.

I've only seen swedged studs on drums. Disc studs should come out w/ a hammer.
 
Remove caliper,then the dust cap.Take the cotter pin out and spin the nut off,your rotor will come off with ease.Now when removing the rear bearing and seal,I always just put the nut back on the spindle 5 threads,slide the rotor back on and give a swift pull so the bearing and seal catch the nut and pop off.Works for me.Good luck.
 
Thanks guys, none of this is mounted on the car, its loose. I dont have a press, so maybe a BFH would work.
 
Spin a lugnut on a little ways before you use the BFH so you don't mess up the studs, if you're going to reuse them.
 
I might be wrong but I think the K-H hub and rotor assembly are swedged together just like the front drums were. My memory sux but Seems like I remember having to put them together and then take a light cut to check/true the rotor to the bearings.
 
Hey Red, thats what I was thinking, why would they do them one way for the drums and then different for the rotors?? Is there a way I can tell if they are swedged or not??
 
If you are replacing the rotors anyway, lay the hub face down and beat the crap out of the rotor. If it don't move, there's your sign.
 
I pushed mine out with a press,swapped rotors and pushed them back in.
 
KH are swedged alright. I bought used hubs without the rotors on them so I wouldn't have to deal with getting mine apart.
I'm not familiar with the correct way to get them off, but there are a few different methods I have heard of.
 
I checked the KH setup that came off my 70K mile car today. The knurled stud goes thru the hub and rotor, but does not appear to be swedged together :scratch:. I suppose the rotors could have been replaced, but at 70K miles, kind of unlikely...........hmmmm

Anyways, good luck w/ getting it fixed!!
 
Ok, I got out the BFH this morning as I have no press and had success. The hubs and rotors are definitely not swedged together. A simple straight "ground and pound" and then a little wrestling to get the hub seperated!! Thanks everyone!!
 
Glad to hear you got them apart. Mopar is tough to figure sometimes.
