I thought the S&P one was way too pricey so I made my own.
I bought a gates 38016 pulley and welded a bolt to a piece of square tubing that I welded to a piece of 1/4 steel that I drilled for the correct mounting location. I used a nut on the inside and washer to get the correct offset and then welded that as well. The bolt is slightly undersized, so I may eventually get a piece of steel machined to the right diameter for the bearing in the pulley with a threaded end so I can make it more like the mounting for other idler pulleys, but so far I think this will work fine. The pulley is an easy to find part and I kept the stock belt length this way as well.

I'll fab my own that's easy enough. I wanted to see what others had done. If eveyone was buying one I would do that but fabbing one is better.

on the belt routing I'll look and see how the truck guys route the betls they use at the track to bypass the ac and PS. And post a diagram for you. It will be later today though.

Would switching to a 5.7 Timing Cover a good idea? I'm just looking at hemijoejr setup. It Looks oldschool and Im an use my old Radiator too. Are the waterpump pulleys in different positions? It looks very high on a 5.7.

I don't know if you found the rest of HemiJoeJr's posts, but he details exactly what he did on his setup. He modified his alternator mount quite a bit so that it works like an old mount and you set the belt tension by adjusting the alternator I think instead of using the stock tensioner. From looking at the pictures though I think you might be able to just change the top right idler pulley and keep the factory alternator and tensioner, but I need to look up the factory routing to check.

The top picture is the factory routing options for a stock 5.7 truck front cover setup according to Mopar. This info is provided with their crate engine setups that they sell specifically for a swap. I'm not sure what the car belt arrangement is like. The bottom two pictures are options I thought might be feasable. I don't have an engine in front of me to see if anything gets in the way, but from the looks of it at least I would think it might work. HemiJoeJr looks to have a somewhat similar setup aside from moving his alternator around. The first option keeps more belt wrap on the alternator, but I don't know if you need that much or not, so the second option might be a cleaner install if it's possible. The only other change I see is that the idler at the top right looks like it would need to be changed from a smooth one to a grooved one. Not sure what the 6.1 setups look like. Also, ignore the belt part numbers for the last two, I forgot to erase those.

I took the stock pump and disassembled the vanes from the back,Plugged the hose ports and filled it with 80w90 gear lube--Never gets hot and the shaft bearings are roller, they get oil from the gear lube--VERY COST EFFECTIVE--Belt goes on normal Steve

I made my own in aluminium... :)

It is very high compaired to an LA engine. It might be the motor mounts? I used an aftermarket, reverse rotation Flex-a-lite fan mounted to the stock fan clutch. I also used a modified upper water neck and found hoses to atach to my 26in rad. It works well! One of the hardest parts is working with the 7 groove belts. they have big gaps between sizes unlike the 6 groove belts.

I think the 6.1 and the 5.7 car have the same set-up for pulleys... so no.
I was gonna try a really short belt, and just go from the crank bottom, to the ALT, below a smooth idler, over the WP, and a tensioner between the WP & crank... we shall see...

If you have the 5.7 truck motor you don't need one just a 5 rib belt.

I could have taken the easy way out and just used the 6 groove belt but I didn't like the way it looked. Nice job one1dk!!! Looks fantastic!!
