Chrysler brings back the Dodge Dart

-
Now I wonder, can I fit a V-8 in there? He he he

Seriously, the name should ring a bell to everyone and I hope it holds and rings well for the people and the corp. as far as being a car you can depend on. I agree, the Corp. needs a very high mileage ride. They have none now.

Looking at the idea of a turbo on the power plant. I like it. It is not going to be any bigger than a go cart, so, a turbo 4 should really move this box well. Never mind what will happen when the hot rodders get there hands on it.

Glad to see them using the "DART" name. The new car better live up to the name.

Cool! I've been looking for something small and fuel efficient from the US, being a Chrysler product, and being named the Dart is just a plus for me. I can have an original and a modern rendition. I know that it won't live up to the big name but still. It's better than Omni.

the fact that there were four door darts makes me not mind the fact that it is a four door (at least for now) however not sure about the hatchback if thats the way they go. but lke was said its just rehashing a nameplate so... have to admit i was hoping theyd make it a hemi.

The rear taillights look like the Charger's. How about some uniqueness/variety in different models?

I like the new Charger's taillights, but are they going to put them on EVERYTHING NOW?

This "would" have been their cue to bring back a "retro" 67-69 Dart.

I see it's "Alpha" based. No. No. No, I won't be buying any Ay--tal -i anne cars.

I've been wondering for years when they'd dust off the Dart name and apply it to something new. Looks, at least in theory, like a real winner—probably leapfrog right over the Chevrolet Cruze and, at least and at last, give the Ford Focus a run for its money. All the US automakers have been playing "No, no, wait, wait, this time for sure, we promise, no more horsing around with small cars that are cheap garbage" for way too many years; it's nice to see them applying themselves at last.

More info here.

HERE COMES THE HATE HAHAHAHA

To me go dodge the charger name was a hit so keep doing what works yes yes it will never be OUR DARTS but hey hope the turbo is a two door and looks good...

I can see the headlines now about how the car when they were new rusted ya ya ya and they were ugly ya ya ya hope this dart nameplate works well

Cant wait to see what the new Mr norms garage will do with a NEW dart Turbo GSS?

DODGE GIVE ME A CAR WITH A SWINGER NAMEPLATE ON IT

I will wait to see what it looks like before saying anything.

Well according to the one article Dan posted no hatchback for the US, supposed to be a sedan only. Guess we'll have to wait and see what gets released.

I think its a little unfortunate that it doesn't seem to have any real styling cues to the original, it seems to have new Charger style tail lights and the standard crosshair front grille. Probably asking too much for a retro style car like the Challenger, but it wouldn't have been all that hard to pay tribute to the original with some tail lights or grille cues that go back to the original.

If the 2.4 is anything like the one that was in the Neon based SRT4 it will be a good platform, but I don't know if that's actually based on the same engine or if it just happens to be the same displacement. The SRT4's responded well to modifications, the really ripped with the right set up.

Still, too bad that the 2.4 is the biggest engine you can supposedly get. Although, the Chrysler V6 is pretty lame, so maybe its best it stays to 4 cylinders.

i would not mind seeing a 2013 hemi dart!

gonna ruin yet another name. that freaking thing is an abortion. and enough already with the over used R/T bullshit.

Re badging works look at the charger HIT SELLER challenger also a Hit seller it will work use the names that have a jingle all ready and it will attract buyers the SRT team has all ready axed most of the R/t brands in the line they said that was a problem of the past not the future very selct number of car to be given R/t status...

Abortion I think not, a competitive eco car that wil run with the likes of the fucus and cruze I THINK SO

at the same time it will never be OUR dodge darts but by god Im glad CHRYSLER IS BACK AND SWINGING ;)

Almost time to replace my daily econobox, be interesting to see how this plays out when released

The pity is, that they put the turbocharger on the WRONG ENGINE (again!)

If they'd turbo'd the 2.4 liter, they could have gone toe-to-toe with the Mazdaspeed3 (263 HP), and the Nissan Altima V6 (270 HP... 102mph in the quarter-mile), but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....
They stuck it on that miniscule, 1.4 liter engine (EPA gas mileage)....

See how the govenment screws things up for us????

the charger is a clusterfuck. a 4 door? get real. the chally is an overweight pig. and the dart is a joke. all three are abortions in my opinion. if you want to be a chrysler apologist go for it. back in the swing of things?? lol get rear. they are in last place as usual and will stay there with this junk.

Calm down,we still have not seen what the boys at SRT have in store for it yet.:burnout:

BUT ALL WE CAN DO IT SUPPROT THEM I LIVE FOR MA MOPAR always will I love the underdogs and I will buy chryslers for the rest of my live including this dodge dart and yes to alot of people the charger was EFED but numbers dont lie it sells and it sells good

I get were your coming from Joe its NOT OUR CARS never will be but give credit were credit is due I have seen GREATER things come out of chrysler in the last 2/3 years then I have for the prior 34 years minus the VIPERs 1992 debut

Well, it seems Chrysler decided that developing an affordable cool car where bolt on's are plentiful and HP readily available to compete with the Camaro and Mustang would be ridiculous. (Since most of us can't afford a Challenger let alone the twin turbo set ups etc. etc.)

Let me extend my rant to the poor selection and overly expensive crate motors. 12K for a 390 HP motor? Really? You have to admit, the Chevy ones are high quality, priced accordingly and dependable. Where are you Chrysler??????????????????? Are we left to fend for ourselves?
Rant over..........

Dodge dart or Dodge FART???????
