I'm have for sell a STR 12 Edelbrock crossram that I've owned since 1984 or 85 and never installed it.I had it stored away for yrs.then i saw one here (FABO) and it was the only other one I had ever seen.So I inquired about it and the owner said it was already sold.(For an attractive sum) Then I found mine after not seeing it since 2004 could not remember where i put it (Oldtimers) Then I found it.Then I had it glass beaded
I'm asking $2,000. or best resonable offer.
PS. Pictures available Soon ! Special Thanks "Dartnut" !!! :burnout:

No, I have one so I know exactly what they look like... As far as price, if its to high, it wont sell, if its to low, it will sell fast..

Thanks, am i selling it to low of a price ?

I bought a NOS one about 5 years ago at the Mopar Nats for $1200.00, there were a couple on E-Bay about 6 months ago and they both went for around $ 2000.00 a piece one had carbs. I sold mine with carbs, lines, air cleaners and linkage for $2200.00 3 years ago. To me $3000.00 seems high not low for just a bare intake granted they are rare but not impossible to find .... maybe a Barrett-Jackson buyer will see your add. Good Luck

Thank you for the info, but do they all have Buddy Ar casted into the bottom because this is the only one i have ever seen ?

Rare, yes but $3000 is an awful lot for a bare intake.I sold one a while back that was brand new but had the outside polished like chrome and I didn't get $3000 but you never know?Buddy Bar is casted into all of them(I think they did the castings for edelbrock) as far as I can tell anyway? There isn't a lot of info on these intakes. The one that I run on my Cuda has it also.Sorry to hear your selling it but good luck
Doug

That's right. It's cast like this:

Buddy
A
R

It reads "BUDDY BAR", not "BUDDY AR" and does refer to the casting maker. It is no more rare than any other STR12.

Hey Doug I tried to put pictures up but it's not letting me put them up and i resized them too. Do I have your email address if so I will send them to your email.

I wonder... B AR = Buddy Arrington?

Just so we know.. how well did these things actually work? if someone ever pulls off a miracle and gets these things produced again... how well do/did they actually perform? Just curious. Sure would be nice since there are so few "glory parts" ever made for small block engines.

Chance of it being reproduced is very close to 0% as I had talked to Vic Edelbrock a few years ago about it at Limerock raceway and he felt his Company at the time had no interest as its very $$$$ and its a small market of people to try and recoup $$$$.I have heard many say that it doesn't work as well as some intakes?most have never had one to actually try out so I feel that most of that is mumbo jumbo as I run mine on my small block on my street/strip car and I love it.Oh and second time ever taking my car to the track was last fall to the Hemmings Musclepalooza event at Lebanon Valley dragway and there were over 80 cars in the 12 second class and I made it to the final round(I came in 2nd).

More nostalgic that performer in my owner opinion. I had one and sold it but didnt have the correct top, just a 3/8 plate with 1X4 carb adapter as base. Went to a Strip Dominator and felt a low end boost, top end was no change, but you need to match that intake with a cam that can use it. Good luck on the sale, $2000 will feel good in the account.

Hot Rod used one of these in one of their drag projects in 1970, in a then new 1970 Duster 340. With a four speed and 5.13's they eventually got it to run a high 10 or low 11... they had the 2X4 top and a pair of 660's.. and it still requred work with popsicle sticks and epoxy to correct the fuel distribution. I can only imagine the mess it would be with a single 4 barrel..just like any other tunnel ram I have ever seen.

It would be interesting if the magazines would revisit their builds from the past and see what they could do today.. one of their 340 build ups had 13:1 compression, a huge solid cam and a tunnel ram and made 500 hp.. some folks do that now with a 10:1 compression, a single 4 barrel and streetable cams. Makes you wonder what 30 years of technological developement would do to one of the old builds.. fun to think about anyway.
