This is a common question that gets asked alot. The link works most of the time, but sometimes it is down. I brought over the info from it to store here. I am not trying to steal this from this guy. It is great info that needs to be passed along. This guy deserves all the credit in the world.

Man that was helpful! Really starting to figure out that I need to just search these boards BEFORE the frustration sets in on stuff like this.
 
Hey guys. I've seen postings all around the internet for taking these latches off if they're the non-key type. I've seen a few postings for the keyed locking latches and it appears as though you need the key in that case to remove the latch.

What do you do if you have a locking latch and you don't have the key? How do you remove the latch. My son and I have fooled with this latch several times over the years and we can't access the tab to push in. It sounds like the latch has to be in the "locked" position to do that. We can find the hole to push into but it's very solid in there with no tab showing.

I'd prefer to not have to risk damage to the door with a die grinder or other tool to cut it off. Thanks!
 
Just to add, I was able to remove a key lock cylinder from an unlocked glove box using the access hole 90 deg from bottom. I used a bent hook to depress the locking tab. the cylinder slides out the same way. Tedious effort because you cannot see what your doing, but works!
 
I was attempting to remove my lock cylinder (no key type) the other night and it was just kicking my a$$. Then I found this post.
After dinking with it for about 2 minutes it fell out on the floor!

OK, this really helped me get mine out now.....how the $%$^ does it go back together? This looks so simple..
 
Yes this was great has I just Saturday was removing mine so I can repaint it,Also I found that when it is in lock position you need to push the lever up all the way up to relieve the spring pressure and when you push on the tab in the window the lock will just fall out :cheers:!
 
Pulled my head out of my butt this morning and BINGO. Looks and works better then ever. it's perfect!!

I've been messing with this for hours following everyone's directions but it was this tip that got me to realize why I've been fighting it. Thanks!

I thought I broke mine too. See, I'm trying to bring my Scamp back to life, so I removed the glove box door so I could clean it up. I had no idea how to get the lock off so in my typical fashion, I did NO research and I manhandled it. Needless to say, the metal ring came off and the spring came out. I tried to figure it out on my own for a few hours, then gave up. I was bummed until yesterday. I sat down and really got a look at was going on. I saw that the spring has a hook on one end and it meshes with the lock cylinder on one side. The other end of the spring hooks into another slot on the other side of the lock cylinder. After I straightened out the (now) bent spring, I inserted it and it stayed in place. The metal ring is what stumped me until I saw this thread...http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=257317 . It was tricky. I got half of the ring in place then I took my needle nose pliers and rotated the ring in place until all of it was securely where it belongs. Then I was able to slide the lock back in place after depressing the tumbler. It all stayed together afterwards and now works like a charm. Like BurntOrange said earlier in this thread, "That dang lock is like a rubix cube." More true words have never been said!

Hahaha!!! I have to laugh. Probably the funniest frustrating thing to take apart. I was on the phone with Dave Paddok from performance car graphics, he tried to walk me through the procedure. I tried every hole in the Damn thing. Took me two day to pop it apart. I still don't remember how to do it. LOL hey! Thanks for the info. I'm gonna print and save this!
