275/50/15 on a 7" wheel ?

-
I think you'd be ok. Run them on 8" wheels all the time with a good bit of room..

..........I personally think a 8 in rim would be minimum for a 60 series let alone a 50 series.......i like 275s on a 10 in rim.........but thats just me.......kim........

I run M/T 275x50x15 tires on 15 x 8 inch wheels. They hook great.

I got a set of drag radials that size. Got them on 15x8's Fits perfect.
Here's a pic.

7" will be ok, but you will wear the tires in the middle. An 8" wheel would be prime.

the only reason i didn't get the 8" is because the BS, i'm pretty sure, would have made the tire hit the leaf spring. ....... Wheel, Chrysler Rallye, Steel, Silver, 15 in.x 8 in., 5 x 4 in. Bolt Circle, 4.625 in. Backspace

Unfortunately you will not make good use of the wider low profile tire,it will be strecthed over the rim and pull the outer edges down and you will have a high spot in the middle. No matter how much you air them down the minute you hit the gas they will gow and you will be back to having all your traction in the middle part of the tire.If you are sticking to a seven inch rim go with a taller tire like a 275/60/15,or better still a slightly narrower/taller like a 255/60/15,the extra sidewall will give you a wider footprint on the narrower rim.Alot of racers use only a 30x9.5x15 slick on sub 10 second cars since a taller tire/more sidewall will always give you a bigger footprint when comparing identical tread widths.

Did you measure to be sure? 7" wheel will work, but you won't get the full effect from the tire, IMO.

I got a great deal on a set of 15X8 Cragar S/S wheels from a forum member recently, and just yesterday I installed these on them:

10-1/2" tread on an 8" wheel. The tire ad says 10" tread, but I measured them with a tape and they're 10-1/2" wide. They look great!
Lemme know if you want a picture.

George

after looking at that web site i did find some tires that i think will fit on my dart. my old 71 dart i had some M/T sportsmans 28x10.5 x15's on it , so i think it just the ones i have be look for. jegs are asking 220.99 for them. 209.00 for mandhtires.

Yep i think you are on to somethink here.... i like them. and not a bad price...

I'd run the 8" wheel, I used to run 295-50x15's on the street. I started with a 7" wheel & the tires wore prematurely in the middle no matter what air pressure I ran. I switched to an 8" wheel & the tires wore perfectly across the tread pattern with 28-30 lbs, & lasted over twice as long. Just my .02.
