I had the full Polygraphite PST kit installed on my wife's duster about 8 years ago (no more than 10K miles since) and while I was working on the fuel line I looked down and noticed that the Drivers Side Strut Rod Bushing was GONE!

The guy that installed the Strut Rod bushing is a the top Mopar Chassis guy in Central TX and did a great job....but the bushing failed :(

Now I gotta call PST and see if they'll cover it under warranty...hope so.

that is exactly why i always install the washer with the cup facing out. with the cup facing in , it splits the bushing. the other side will do the same thing

I think the cupped washer split it and it went south after that. Get yourself 2 new ones for cheap and get that washer on correctly. Literally, why would the washer go on like that from a top Mopar guy? Brainfart...?

he has the washer installed correctly... allows the for the movement of the front suspension...

for the record, i have torn apart 50+ mopars and every one of them came with washer the other way. either way, thats asking for failure

thats why on the washer its says, this side away from bushing, on the cupped side...

i have never had one go south on me installing it the opposite way. and im still driving on the same rebuilt front end that was done 40,000 miles ago with no splits or missing bushings.

You learn something every day....Guess MoparMuscle has them wrong too! And this guy..

These guys are all over the board on this!

yeah, them washers are on backwards. Probably the reason for the failure. It's pretty obvious that in that orientation the washer is just going to spread the bushing as force is applied. I actually went out and looked at mine:)

You are correct the cup goes to the bushing and by that it holds the bushing together-not splitting it.

72 back a-body fine thread strut rod cup faces the bushing front and rear. one piece bushing . Bushing is inserted from the rear

73 up coarse thread strut rods the cup faces away from the bushings. these are also two piece rubber bushings.

You had yours installed incorrect for one piece fine thread.

mopar parts dont lie...

yes if you over torque them you cna have issues... my 65 had rool pins that you installed once you had the nut tight enough... most now just have a locking nut but same still applies...

remember that the control arm is MOVING in swinging arch... so by installing with the cups in it will resist travel some sometimes bend the strut rod...

regardless of what it says on any cup, i have, and will continue, to put mine on so the bushing is cupped. that is why my bushings last tens of thousands of miles

this sounds legitimate as well.
