Hello MoparMan´s!

News on the Dart project. A friend pass by with nice tools and we remove all suspension from the car. It´s visible that all bushings are in very bad shape.

So I´ll show you guys, all the parts the way they came out from the car. Starting with the UCA. All bushing are bad and the ball joints can be use as an emergency replacement.

Hello fellas! How you guys are doing?

Wel, I've done some little progress here. This week I painted some parts and made an UCA Bushing removal/installer. By the way is very easy to make this tool and it help a lot.

Cool! Always good to see you getting some stuff done. I see you have nice weather there. We are pretty chilly right now, below zero and the winter wind is howling through the pine tree's!

I still get in the garage though, and insulated coveralls keep me fairly warm! Was actually in my garage today in fact.

Good to era from you!! That´s was a luke day, it´s rainning a lot here!

Hopefully I will be well enough to do some work on my Dart this week. It has gotten even colder here as of recently, but I have a pair of 500 watt halogen light's inside the cab of the Dart. It really helps to keep you warm in addition to the great lighting!

I bought the light at a discount salvation army store for $9!! This type of lamp is usually over $60 here.

My friend Joe keeps stopping by to see if I am up to working on the Dart. He is inspirational for me,so hopefully I can be rid of this flue like virus I have soon.

Hello guys! Almost read to put all togheter!! I´m just waiting for reinforce plates (LCA) and the sector kit both from FFI. Then is put all this with right torque and process. Do it right on the first time, learned from american books from Mopar, SA DEsign and HP books.

But if you have a pic or suggestion, please, is time to let me know. Wanna have a nice car to drive. Recently i discovered that bushing´s bolts are torqued after setting the height. This make a major difference!

And thanks to maintain this forum so clean and with very good information. The things I able to do today, part learned here, I was not 4 month ago! So thanks guys.

Now the news! I put back the UCA off set bushing. I used my homemade tool. Easy and clean job.

Helo felas!

After some weeks in silence I´m ready to keep going on the Dart project. Some hard times in my life, but, like my friend Jonny Walker says: KEEP GOING!

Wel guy I instaled the reinforce plates on my LCA las weekend, my welder guy did a great job and now the part are ready to paint, assembly and install on the car.

Nice! I like your welder budies horseshoe shaped clamp. Im going to have to build a few like that,as I dont have any and I can see some uses where I will need a clamp with this shape.

Im sure you are going to be impressed with the handling even though you have not made many changes. You are making small changes that matter! The stock suspension is very capable, folk's race with the stock system all the time.

Do you have a rear sway bar? This will help round out the suspension package. The rear sway bar was 3/4 inch stock. There are many sellers who offer bigger diameter bars if you wish it,but the 3/4" will work well with a stock front sway bar.

I am using stock diameter sway bars, and lightening the car a bunch as well, which makes the suspension work better for handling.

Nice work Andre. Good to see you're still at it.

Helo felas!!

Doing some slow progress on the Dart project. Last week I cuted my strut rod bushings, trying to reach the avaible caster!

Look how I did it:

Hi! Thanks for your coments!! I hope the car will be very good to drive!

No, i don´t have a rear sway bar, but I´m planning to use one. I looking fo the FFI one that have the same design of the AAR and T/A. Hope to get one of those.

Andre be carefull in your sway bar selection. You need a rear that is matched to work properly with the front. Mixing and matching sizes/brands will affect the handling ,but not in a good way.

So if you are planning on using a stock front sway bar,use a stock rear sway bar. If you upgrade one, upgrade the other,O.K? DONT mix and match.

Nice tip. All the front sway bars here in Brazil are the same. A few months ago I mensured it and the guys here says that it´s the same size of the biggest Chrysler factory made in USA. I think .89", but i´m not remember. I will look for one of the same size.

Thanks man.

No no Andre. Not the same size, but a match to the front one. Sway bars are very carefully sized to work in harmony. The front of the car weighs more,so the sway bar is thicker. The rear of the car weighs less,so the rear sway bar is smaller, got it? A stock rear sway bar for an A body is only 3/4 inch thick, and it is solid not hollow. Aftermarket A body sway bars are both solid and hollow, depending on the maker. What you need to match a stock front sway bar is a solid,3/4 rear sway bar.Addco makes one,it's only $130 or so.

Helo my friends!

New update!! I removed the rear spring bushing from the big eye! Look the way i did!

Holy crap, your brave!! Swinging a hammer and chisel so close to open toe footwear is asking for an injury Andre. Sorry to nag on safety,it's ingrained to my soul after working at a smelter for 8 years, part of which I was an in plant shift safety rep.

Be carefull! You need those toes for the gas pedal!!!:burnout:

You´r right needsaresto. The problem is on that day I was not prepared to do this work. I was thinking not to remove this sleeve... But the poly bushing not fit, so have to do it. But I was very careful, very conscious.

The only injuries was the hammer on my friends hand´s finger, but nothing serius.

But I´ll keep safety in mind next time!! Thanks a lot for the comment.
