Looking FAR into the future I am again running ideas through my head as to paint for my '64 Barracuda. I plan to use painted steel wheels & will have the scoop shown in my avatar. In the past I have thought about the original white, a really bright lime green with a gold metallic flake & a gold stripe (I still keep going back to that idea), T-5 Bronze with a black stripe, & a dark black cherry (after seeing the car in the Layson's ad I don't think I want that color). I really want to keep the factory color gold interior. I was wondering if painting the car a dark silver would work with the gold interior. Maybe with a gold stripe? Maybe with a black stripe? Am I totally off base here? What do you guys think? Any other suggestions for an exterior color? There's so many out there that I'm sure there's something that I've never thought of.

or white with gold strip. kinda like the hurst olds cars.

With a gold interior I would go with a tan color or brownish with white stripe. According to me a black stripe would be too dark for the interior. This way you could match the wheels to the paint or stripe.

The black with gold stripe would probably look REALLY good, but I'm not sure I want another black vehicle. It sounds good enough that I should probably consider it, even though it would remind me of the Hertz Shelby rent-a-cars.

Never considered white with a blue stripe before. Might work. I did once think about white with blue flames.

White with a gold stripe sounds kinda good. I'll keep that one in mind.

A tan color might work if I could find one I really liked. I'll have to go look at paint chips sometime.

Keep the ideas coming!

maybe maroon with gold stripe - go noles
or blue metallic with gold stripe - go notre dame
or even the old forest green metallic (can't remember the name of the stock color) with gold stripe - go colorado state

ooo oooo ooo purple and gold with some 24" DUBS - woot there it is :)

Something crossed my so I'll throw it out. I have a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan that is painted a color called "Deep Slate." It looks black most of the time, but when it's clean & the light hits it right you can see that it's really a very, very, very dark gray color. Would that work as a base or stripe color? Maybe if I had a gold metallic to the paint? Just kinda' thinking out loud here......

According to my better half, silver and gold don't mix. If you can put a gold flake in with the black, that would probably look good.

I would go silver with the optional "barracuda" stripe! The T5 Bronze color is awesome, my friend has an unrestored 69 Super Bee that is T5 and it looks awesome!

I've tried to picture the car in bronze. Hard to tell. Some cars may look good in one color & another car looks terrible in the same color. Do you think the bronze would look good with the gold interior? What color stripe , if any? I started thinking of the bronze color after seeing a Chevy Cobalt on a lot that was painted some sort of orange/bronze color. My kids like it.

Keep the ideas coming. I've got a while before I need to make any decision.

I noticed a trend at the H P Mopars West meet in April. Several cars were painted in various colors of metalic with what they called, "ghost flame" accents. The flames were a suttle variation of the base color but, were more or less visible/invisible, depending on the angle you looked at them. Extremly trick looking! The one I liked best was a superbly done show car, BB dart in deep metalic purple/blue with a slightly lighter blue with gold flake for the ghost flames. The flake was of very fine texture and was getting a lot of positive response. Marc

What about doing the car in T-5 Bronze with the grille, hood, roof, tops of the fenders, & trunk in black? I'm not sure where to make the change between the two colors though. Maybe along the top body line on the front of the fenders, down the same line on the side & following it down to disappear along the taillight. There's a problem with the hood, though. The body line of the hood that transitions into the grille is a continuation of the lower line of the spear on the fender. Maybe the whole hood in the black? Or maybe using some sort of contrasting color accent in the indented "spear" on the front fender? Thinking out loud here.
Maybe one of you photo shop guys out there can do something. I've got quite a few photos of these cars from different angles.

I was reading in one of the mags about guys using modern paints from Jap and Korean cars on Rods and Customs. Hyundai have some amazingly trick colours and they are stock so no worries if a touch up is needed.

The only downside is having some Grandma pull up next to you at the lights in her shopping cart sporting the same colour as your monster!!
