No conspiracy or gloom and doom apocalyptic forecasting here but has anyone had any recent luck finding Ammo? Today I got my third backorder extension email on some bulk ammo I purchased online back in April saying now not available until June 25th. My local gun store is completely wiped out of 9mm and 40s&w and the range has maybe 2 boxes if you get there in the AM.

Anyone having luck where they live?

There's been a panic causing shortages for a few months now. It's like back in 2009, right after Obama took office. The Dept of Homeland Security putting in an order for millions of .40S&W hasn't helped much.

Let me edit this to say, "450 million" rounds of .40S&W.

You need to buy all the rite stuff and RELOAD your own! Cheaper and can adjust the loads. Or find a place that will reload your brass or sells their reloads.

I thought that I had heard that the current Administration had forbidden selling re-loads. I don't have a gun, so I'm just going on hear say here... I don't see why you couldn't re-load your own brass though.

Don't know about any ban selling reloaded stuff. Last gun show I was at I picked up some reloaded stuff. I have a press it is just not set up at the moment. If you don't shoot much, and this caliber dependent of course, reloading might not be the way to go. I have a Dillon 650, complete with dies for 9mm, 40 s&w, 45 acp, 357 mag, 38 special, 44 magnum, .223, .308, 30-06 , 8mm Mauser & 338 Win Mag. With all the extras I have probably over 4k into it. When we go shooting we go thru 1200-1500 rounds so it is worth it. I have loaded ammo for friends in the past to save them some $$. It can be very time consuming but I look at it as part of the hobby. You just don't ever want to accidentally discharge a primer while reloading.....it will scare the snot out of you.

Thanks for the links. I ordered 500rnds of 40 S&W. Hopefully it gets here before the Zombie Apocalypse.

About a week ago, Turners up in San Marcos had plenty of .40 S&W and 9MM. WalMart was also having a killer deal on .223, but I'm sure they ran out quick. I bought 20 boxes and some other guy bought 35 boxes, and there were several anther people getting 10-20 each. I got a box of 500 .40 S&W reloads from turners about a month ago, but they had a fresh batch last week.

Oh, and the reloads I got from Turners shoot better than the Hornaday or Fiocci rounds I have. They are LAX reloads.

Here in AZ you can get 9s all day.
I don't own one but my brother does.
Mine are 357 and I can get them pretty easy.
I also have brass, primers, powder and a slug mold just so I can take tire weights off cars and make my own slugs when them Zombies happen. :)

Oh, and the hand reloader press.

No problem here-I just gotta get more time to stuff more!!!!

I'll have to stop by Turners when I'm up there. Down this way we only have a Big5 and when they have anything other than Remington Green Box in stock it's $$$.

The local gun store here was selling Magtech, which I really liked, at a great bulk price but have been wiped out for weeks.

If I were back in South Carolina or Washington I would definitely get into reloading. The only ranges down my way are indoors and I don't want to be the guy crawling around on the floor for cases.

I'm usually the guy crawling on the floor for my cases. Especially when I'm shooting my 10MM. Those things are expensive.

No problems here in Oregon even as far back to 08 - 09.. 9mm, 45, 223, 243, 308 whatever is needed. You who have problems should put the blame where it belongs, on your state..

CTD, AIM surplus, SG, are typically pretty decent on pricing. Every election year people panic and suppliers jack up their prices, nothing new. You can already see prices are going up and the suppliers are running out (probably holding out so they can then turn around and jack the prices way up). I got enough to last through at least March or April. Hopefully the price and availability will be back to normal by then.

I have a .357 sig barrel that should be arriving this week for my XD40. Seems to be a very unpopular round here in the San Diego area though.

The Gun show is happening at the OC fairgrounds this weekend. bring your hand cart and buy as much as you want. If it wasn't for the ammo sales there would be no gun shows. They come around every three months or so.
