I did this tonight to prove a point about the strength of these upper control arms. A couple of people on here in the past have questioned the strength of my welds. I wanted to press these in a way that it would test all of the welds. Pressing it from the side would only bend the tubes.

The press initially got up to almost 15 tons before it started to collapse the tube like it should. Not one broken weld. Look how it bent that channel with the bolts running in the tubes welded to the edges.

I guess that I have a new paper weight for my desk. Rant over, carry on.

Thanks everyone for the support. I have learned one thing a long time ago while beating on off road rigs. Gussets make the difference.

Are those photos rigged?......(JOKING !).....How ever if you had of supported the chanel or used a solid piece to attach the arm to I would bet it would have gone more than 15 ton before it started to bend.

From what I can see in the background, I love your shop... And wouldn't hesitate to run your parts on my car.

That is my goal. Making quality parts on a budget.

Hey we have the same press at work!!!!

That press just keeps going and going. We have had that thing up to 50 tons before pressing off some bearings.

I have to say that this stress test is what sold me on buying a set, I'd be very curious to see if Magnum Force, Hotchkis, RMS or any other manufacturers would be willing to share their results form this same test?

I dont think you will see that happen.............Artie

Is that one of the arms you're giving away? :D

Quality work there, John. Now ya got visual aids for the doubters.

That's impressive. I can't wait to order a kit.

Oh and maybe I'd be considered a "doubter", but really was just being thorough in my research of the avail. suspension systems. After all, I started looking at coil conversions around the same time as that thread about some other a-arms from a small company that bent from being looked at.
