hey guys,
I made the mistake of pressing my upper ball joints out of my stock upper control arms. Now I'm worried that the threads on the upper control arm are not strong enough and am looking for new control arms.

The thing is that I already have a new pair of upper ball joints (small ones I think) and all the upper control arms I"m seeing, from firmfeel, rms, hotchkis, etc. come with ball joints. I dont see the need to spend money on something I already have....

Is there any place I can buy decent (not soo expensive) upper control arms without ball joints ?

Thanks

Weld the ball joints in the arms you have now and run them. It is done all the time. Use the search button on this site and look for yourself.

Im doing exactly what Okla said here, one side on the UCA has lousy threads, I've got the new bj in, just need to get it tacked in place. Tack it in 3 spots, that should hold it, then if you ever need to replace, just grind off the tack welds.

yea, id use what ya got, weld them in....However, if your stuck on tubular upper arms, give Bill (RMS) a call, he will sell you the arms without balljoints...

Small ball joint arms I'd let go for $30/pair. And yes, welding is the factory fix for stripped arms.

I was in your same position a year or so ago. I had some New PST BJ's and my UCA's threading was toast. Here's what I did so you know what NOT to do:

I bought the new OE Style Re-pops off of Ebay, took those BJ's out, and put my new ones in. Even though they torqued down, the cheap metal gave way on the highway and my ball joint popped out.

I recall more than one thread about the China no quality junk UCAs.
