Dropped by dads to take a look at his master cylinder. We didnt get to pulling it out, got too busy with other stuff. Took a quick look and it is seeping out the back end. I have been looking online as well as making phone calls as to getting a rebuild kit, or ordering a new one. Seems to be conflicting comments as to whether there are differences between a power vs non power brake master cylinder. Dads car is factory nonpower with front disc. Any ideas??

Thanks

Go to rockauto.com and order one for a '73 Duster 340 with power disc brakes RAYBESTOS Part # MC36406. That will get you the smaller 15/16" bore master cylinder for less pedal effort and is a direct bolt on to a manual disc brake car. That is what I run on my manual disc brake car. Greater stopping power with less pedal effort. The factory calls for a 1" bore master cylinder and its a horrible set up that requires excessive pedal effort to stop the car.

Since you have a similar car you might want to check out my web page on what I did to improve my brakes:

Thanks Bill. I have looked at your site before, very nice!
Went to dads last night removed the MC, as it turns out it was missing one screw and retainer off the back of it that holds the pistons in, and the one retainer was bent, so it allowed the piston to start to come out the back. Fabbed up another retainer/screw, put it back in and bled all the brakes with new DOT 5 synthetic. Cross your fingers.....
