2357 tail lite bulbs or 1157?

Im not sure what your takes but if it has a 1157 yes it will. When in doubt pm Dan.

wow ..Honda parts in a Mopar. Lee Iacocca would roll over in his grave

Don't be so sure.

We all remember how in the '80s Iaccoca used to rant and rail against what was perceived as the Japanese takeover of the American economy. At the very same time, he was buying top-quality rustproof steel from Japan Steel because nobody in the US made it and he never wanted there to be a repeat of the F-body rust problem.

It was very good quality steel he bought from the Japanese. He turned it into cars that certainly had (and have) their shortcomings and cut corners and pinched pennies, but which didn't/don't rust anywhere near as fast as the competing cars from GM and Ford.

Thanks, MD318! I'll probably stick around; this place is worse than cigarettes -- at least smokers can get gum and arm patches and meds and stuff to help them quit!

You can't leave us Dan, i think it's against the law anyway. :D

I really like the way you know so much about the electrical ins and outs of our cars, to hell with the old school naysayers. Your credentials speak for themselves.
Nobody is particularly wrong here, yes, i know the old school bulbs work just fine, although they are a bit out dated, just the LED thing for exterior lighting caught me off guard. I read some articles that said they were fine a couple of years ago. I was under the impression that they were the best thing since sliced bread (so to speak) being newer technology and all.
That being said, what do you suggest i use for my instrument panel lights?
('74 dart Sport).

I'm not to sure on the 66 due to it using a 1034 bulb. If there will be an issue with "melting" the lens or turn signal flash rates. Even fitting issues? Height of bulb to the lense.

Just a thought would thoes bulbs burn hotter and burn a hole in the lenses,I ask i once had a 69 Dart and the rear lenses had a hole burnt right through.

Key Words... "because nobody in the US made it" hehe

1034 was the shorter-life predecessor of 1157.
The 3496 has higher efficacy (lumens of light output vs. watts of power input), not higher power/heat.

Dan, I have to ask....does your brain ever hurt from everything that is packed into it?

Sorry, don't want to hijack the thread but I am just curious- I have 1157's in my dart and the signals flash fast as hell, if I am reading Dan's qoute properly that abodyjoe posted on the first page, can this just be corrected with a new flasher? Any particular one?
Thanks!
Ben

Yep, a flasher meant for 1034 bulbs (original equipment on our cars) will flash too fast with 1157s or 3496s. I like the "electronic" flasher that has a see-thru plastic can. Ideal/Tridon EL-12 (same as "EL-12C" which is carded rather than boxed). Nice loud click you can hear over the engine/radio/wind, low internal resistance for brightest turn signals.

Inkjunkie: It is impossible for my brain to hurt. Androids do not experience pain »click« experience pain »click« experience pain »click« experience pain »click« ERROR. ERROR. ERROR. ERROR. ERROR.

Dan, you're the man! I've been driving this car for 13 years with fast turn signals because I thought it was because there are no wires running to the sidemarker lights(I still don't know if there is supposed to be or if they are just reflectors, never looked)
All it took was a 30 sec flasher swap and they are normal again!
Thanks!

Glad to help out.

Law requirement from 1/1/68 to 12/31/69 was side marker lights and/or reflectors. Effective 1/1/70 lights and reflectors were required. On A-body Mopars:

'68s have side marker lights (no reflectors).
'69s have side marker reflectors (no lights).
'70 and newer have side marker lights and reflectors.

So Dan,if i was to get those bulbs for my 69 dart,do I have to change the flasher? Also what about the front amber bulbs can we get them brighter also.Sorry could you tell me the part # for the rear and the front.Thanksssssssssssssss

There's no amber version of the 3496; the brightest amber bulb for up front is 2357NA you can buy at local parts store. Part number for the rear bulb is on the first page of this thread. Put in the better flasher.
