Happy Saturday All,

So the Dart is really starting to come together. I'm just about at a stage where I could call it done (but do we ever REALLY call it done?) so I would like to take it to a shop to do a final tune up. I have all the easy work done, but I wanted someone to go over everything and make sure it is all up to snuff. I'm sure you guys know what I mean...just make sure the carb is adjusted properly and that everything is running as efficiently as it should.
There is a performance shop in Fresno that I would take it to, but the last time I was there, all the owner did was bag on my Edelbrock carb and tell me I need an electric fan. While this may be true, kind of low class to rag on a customers carburetor. Plus my temp is great. Had the radiator worked on late summer and it says right around 190 degrees.
So does anyone know of a good place in the Central Valley, anywhere between Fresno and Visalia, that I can take the Dart to? I don't want to pay too much, but I do understand the saying, "you get what you pay for!" I have plans to drive the car to the Bay Area and I want to be sure it will make the trip in one piece.

Thanks All,

Jason

I don't really know of any (I rarely use a shop for any work), but you can call R&R Automotive in Visalia. They appear to have a good reputation. What shop did you use here (Fresno)?

Seems an older smog place could hook up the sniffer and tell you if you are rich/lean at RPM's? Catch them on a slow night....Remember those glass spark plugs that showed you the color of your combustion? You matched the color to the chart and it told you if it was rich or lean...? http://www.autoexpertproducts.com/colortune-14mm.shtml

Fresno Performance out on Parkway Drive. Sad thing is I was talking to one of the mechanics out there and was having a good time. The guy was telling me about all the things they could do for me and then the boss comes over. He was a nice guy, so I shouldn't hold it against him too much. But really turned me off when the first thing he says when he sees my engine is that he would throw the carb in the garbage.

Speaking of Tulare, I believe H.L. Shahan still has a shop there...

Also, I've never heard of Fresno Performance. Is the owner a guy with red hair?

The name of the place is Brook's Performance, not Fresno Performance. Sorry...

H.L. has done some tuning on my Dart. He still has his shop, but does not tune much anymore. Without a doubt, one of the finest Mopar mechanics ever.

Ken`s Automotive in Tulare is owned by Ken Dondero. Ken won two AHRA Championships in the mid 70`s driving for Grumpy Jenkins. Great shop!!
