I know I'm right....
How do you get it off? Do you need a spanner wrench, or whatever the ones that look like hooks to unscrew the retainer ring? I am stuck with no car....TRied to tap on ribs but they just break off.
Yeah, I did it, Harbor Freight 6" rubber strap wrench, $4.99 and you get 2. I think I actually hurt myself getting that **** off....Hammer and punch just chiseled pieces off. There was a piece of crud in the impeller, locking the pump up. Found it when I backflushed the pump. I got a new sock while I was in there. Never again, I hope. $179 for a new pump, F that!
A bar clamp like a carpenter uses will work too.
If you're planning to put a aftermarket pump in the pump sender assembly you're in for a chore. Good luck with it
Wow I wonder who made the tank back then there were only about 3 major Mfg of plastic tanks, we make plastic gas tanks and a split seam is a huge problem, now we use what they call an E-ring App on the tanks it's molded right in the tank so removing the module is easer. the old mason jar method is long gone for us,
I though it would be a great idea to get a plastic EFI tank for my EFI project, one that already has the sump and the pump and vent lines. Any good doners for a early A body? My 65 tank looks like a suitcase with a semi circle tire shape out the top. The Breeze was a low flat design, too big for my 65'.
it's pretty hard to get a tank even close to fit anything other than what the car it was designed for, they design the car and make the tank fit around the open space that's left, most tanks now are design as what we call a sattle bag design they run a module with a secondary pump or a cross over line that runs inside the tank to aux pump. Now back in 97/98 we made a tank call J2/J4 it was in stall in a car that looked very close in a A-body tank, if i remember right that was a Sebring body style, the filler neck was molded right into the gas tank but the filler went out the back and not the side like most A-bodies if you want when I go back to work on Monday I can get the model of car that it was in stalled in
