And of course, the 1965 Buick Riviera

Tony, you're 100% correct on the 427 Cobra. Can't believe I left it off my list. Sexiest car body shape ever made.

And here's one more for my list - one of which I was fortunate enough to own: '74 Pontiac TransAm w/455 - and one design feature of this car is going to make it to my '69 Dart (and, no, it's not the Firebird decal on the hood)

I had a 69 Cutlass W/31 ramrod 350 -4speed with 12 bolt with factory 4:33 gears.I loved that car.wish I could find another..........................Jeff
.

Thanks anyways.
I said it was 'cool,' didn't say it was a tank supercar... 4-wheel steer, Active Aero, and the slough of other goodies, coupled with a twin-turbo V6 on a 6-speed wired to all four wheels? What's not to love!?

Also, yes the Starion and other DSM's of the 80's would smoke an 80's Impulse, and yes Isuzus are kind of junky... But I was talking about the tech aspect of the cars, in which I'd rather (regardless of base hp) have an Impulse (80's JR body) over a Starion or Conquest...

However, my 90's Impulses, I found, were a better car than the DSM's I encountered. Further, a friend of mine with an Impulse RS would purposefully go out on the prowl looking for Talon TSi's and Eclipse GSx's, just to put them to shame. Even further still, a friend of mine purposefully swapped an RS engine and AWD drivetrain into the sister car, the Geo Storm, just so he could race Talons and Eclipses and V8 Mustangs and such and make them go, "Holy f***, I just got beat BY A GEO!!!!" Loved it!

Also, the Impulse's/Storm's other sister car was the Lotus Elan M100, hence the reason the JI body (90s) had the suspension designed by Lotus themselves, in exchange for Lotus using the drivetrain from the RS for their Elan M100, and since GM propagated this echange of technology, GM got the Storm (the low-performance ***** of the group) out of the deal...

Isuzu is STILL designing vehicles for GM, but GM does not market them in the US as Isuzu so much anymore..... The Chevy Colorado, for instance, is an Isuzu design, which is why you can get them in Isuzu badging. Plus, the D-Max just looks BADASS! No idea why they don't sell them in the USA!!!

And on the subject of Isuzu trucks: There is nothing known to man that is tougher than the Isuzu Pickup. <3

While I love the hell out of my Mustang, I'd trade it in a heart beat for a nice '69 AMX.

If you really want a 69 amx, i know where one is that this guy drives to work, green and the top is starting to surface rust on the top-maybe cheap!

Favorites:
1. 73 Road Runner
2. 68 Charger
3. 50 (49-51) Merc' - COBRA movie
4. Australian Valiant Charger (would want to put a swinger/demon front clip)
5. 71-72 Dodge Demon
6. 67-68 Green Mustang Fastback (McQueen-Bullitt)
7. 69-70 GT 350/500 Mustang Fastback body (with john Kasse 429/460)
8. 68-70 Chevelle
9. Chezzoom -by Boyd Coddington
10. Bugatti Veryhon (sp?) or ferrari f-40 / f-50 (just to die fast)
11. anycar with a JATO (jet assisted take off rocket) welded to it as explained in the Darwin awards <-This is how I want to die. (believe it was a 69 impala though

The STEALTH and 3000GT VR-4 were considered DSM's....but hardly one of the coolest cars ever......nothing like upgrading the factory air filter...adding a Boost Controller and grenading the Getrag 6 speed into a bazillion pieces...because Ma' told GETRAG to not put ANY extra Hp/Tq capacity into the transmission because they spent their budget on the Viper Program.....hence 3000 GT Vr4's and Stealth RT Twin Turbos are JUNK.
No offence meant.....but I am not Incorrect.
PRINE ~

actually, in the part about the 3/S, you are completely incorrect. They are NOT considered DSMs in any way, shape, or form.
Also, I've never heard of anyone blowing up a 6-speed because they added a little power- mine is at about 400hp (gutted precats, test pipe, k&n, electronic boost controller) and I have no tranny problems at all- yes, the stock clutch with 60k+ miles will start to give out when you add power, but that's a wear issue. I know lots of people with well over 500hp in their 2nd gen 3/Ses (6-speed) who have no transmission problems at all, and even a few pushing close to 1000hp in both first and second gens with no tranny issues.
oh, and my JUNK will hit 60 in about 4 seconds (even if it's raining), hit 170 mph without breaking a sweat (although I personally wouldn't do it because I get scared lol) and still get 30+ mph.

back to the topic though- my favorite non-mopars are:
'66 Mustang
'68 Mustang (both are models I owned)
any Mustang fastback '65-70
Also have to add the AC Cobra
and anything not made by GM.
Not necessarily in that order.

If I wasn't a die hard Mopar guy I would love to own a couple different car's, and when I see them at car show's I drool, but don't tell anyone haha!
I love the old lightweight super duty 62, and 63 pontiac tempests, the 1964 galaxy 427 , and the 1961 chevy bubble top, my father inlaw has 3 of these, one is a tri power car . Yeah, I know these cars are as rare as they come but I love the body styling back then

Well my favorite non Mopar car would have to be the 1961 corvette

There are so many cars that I really like but have wanted a 61 Corvette since around 1972. When they were more affordable didn't want to sell other toys to get one. A few years back test drove a real nice #3 car that would have been perfect for me, but thought I was about to lose my job so even though it was a doable deal, had to pass.

Have had many of the cars that would be on most car guys list. Could have would have, should have, but I have some nice cars now. If I never get a 61 Corvette so be it.

I wish you could have got your 1961 Corvette.

I wish I would have kept mine...it was painted white after
I traded it for a Silver 1964 Roadster

actually, in the part about the 3/S, you are completely incorrect. They are NOT considered DSMs in any way, shape, or form. Your right...they werent DSM (because DSM stands for Diamond Star motors and it took (3) manufacturers into that CO-OP...Plymouth, Eagle, and Mitsubishi)... and the 3kgt never had the 3rd spoke to the wheel....Eagle didnt get in on the 3kgt body....so it was just Dodge and Mitsu....and hence NOT, DSM.
Also, I've never heard of anyone blowing up a 6-speed because they added a little power- mine is at about 400hp (gutted precats, test pipe, k&n, electronic boost controller) and I have no tranny problems at all- yes, theclutch with 60k+ miles will start to give out when you add power, but that's a wear issue. I knew when I wrote that reply you would be following along shortly to clear that up.....everyone I know with a "modified" 3kgt or Stealth TT has had major transmission issues....like bent shift forks, tweeked input shafts, stripped syncros, intermediate shafts...you name it....eventually after fixing their issues they sell/trade/give the car away....which lead to my "transmission" quality perception.
oh, and my JUNK will hit 60 in about 4 seconds (even if it's raining), hit 170 mph without breaking a sweat (although I personally wouldn't do it because I get scared lol) and still get 30+ mph.

I apologize for THAT remark.....those cars are not JUNK...they are more complicated than most people know....and not designed for the DIY mechanic.....but the performance comment doesnt Impress ME.....MY GSX Eclipse would do better than that with only (4) cylinders and (1) turbocharger.

Not slinging mud....I want you to know, I respect You.

I know literally hundreds of people on 3SI with modded 3/Ses (like I said, lots with 500+ to 1000+ horsepower) and not a single one of them has had an issue with their tranny (the synchro issues come with high mileage, not extra power).
Some of them have shattered their transfer cases though lol
.....MY GSX Eclipse would do better than that with only (4) cylinders and (1) turbocharger.
I know what a 4 banger DSM can do- anyone who's heard of John Shepherd's 7 second DSM knows that :D
Sorry if I offended You.
hey it's all good-at least the 'main' reason we're all here is the same:)

an early ford bronco pre 79, 63 split window corvett , 62 meceury monetary
