I've always turned my nose up at guys with pampered, un-driven cars but after 3 years of sporadic wrenching and praying to stay on the road it was time to start driving a more kid-friendly car. The Wife got a new car so I took hers and am letting the Barracuda become a Garage Queen instead of my A to B. I've always driven disposable beaters or old cars and have never had a "toy". Will be nice to not always have repairs or looming breakdowns on my mind though.

are those 14s or 15s on the wheels? Nice car.

Thanks, they're 15"s. It shines up nice when clean but the mechanical and electrical has been a real battle. Every time I think I've finally won the war something else comes up. But then again, that's most cars.

Sorry to hear about your loss lol. Beautiful cuda! That car deserves to have its nose in the wind more often than maybe once a weekend! Do a simple wiring and drivetrain upgrade and enjoy it. Once it starts sitting around it will really start falling apart!

I've always liked that 'Cuda since the first time you posted a pic
of it. Limited duty is a great idea.

I've been daily driving my Duster for 10 years and it's not quite as nice as your Cuda. Why all the talk about impending break downs? If you stick to new/NOS parts and stay away from the remanufactured parts store garbage, your car should be able to stay on the road for a long time without much work.

'62 Valiant resto-rod V8 conversion here. Yes, it did take a few years of repairs, one after the other, before it became a dependable daily driver. But it hasn't broken down in some time now, and that 408 with a big cam and 10.5:1 compression sure is a blast to drive!

Knock on wood!

Damn. That sounds like a wild ride.:D

What do you mean more kid friendly? And why are you worrying about impending breakdowns? I just rebuilt mine and drove it everywhere until it snowed from the beginning of July (when I finally finished) to the beginning of December (when it first snowed) I've never had any issues with anything on my cuda even before I had everything done to it. The only thing I'm now worried about is the electrical, and that's just having time to work on it when you are driving your other car.

This is what I mean by not kid friendly:
Loading your kid into their car seat over scorching-hot black vinyl seats with only enough room to crawl in because the suv parked next to you is 8 inches from your door.

Having an upper ball joint pop out at 65mph, looking in the rear-view and seeing your 3 year old strapped in under 14 sq ft of glass, then realizing you only have a lap belt on as your swerving toward the median.

Kid spending the entire weekend indoors watching tv while dad is in the garage under the car so he can drive her to school on Monday.

Impending Break Downs:

THIS Plymouth (Not all) was originally bought to be a driver. And by the looks of it was going to be a turn-key purchase. Since having kids I knew I couldn't spend the time I used to in the garage so was willing to pay extra for a more complete car that I could drive mostly and fix sparingly. But sadly the PO had sunk all of his time and money into the paint and interior of the car (see pic) and then advertised it as having an engine/trans rebuild with only 500 miles, rebuilt gauges, brakes, etc. etc......all of which were BS but hey the guy was nice and seemed to really be sad about giving up his "Baby". :banghead:

Basically, I got took, and that's my fault for not thoroughly going through the car and judging it based on it's appearance. It ran fine for the first week and then started overheating. Brakes went out. Suspension fell apart.......the more I fixed the more I realized how deep the rabbit hole was going to go.

So I've spent the last 3.5 years rebuilding a car with all the spare time and money I can muster. And everything is almost done but every time I say that................

Alright enough whining from me :wack:
