Hey guys. So a few days ago I went and looked at a 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger. I asked the guy if he we would trade for my 1980 CJ-5. As soon as he told me yes, the Jeep (a.k.a. "The Bucket"... named by the grandparents for reasons unknown) was loaded on to the trailer and shipped off. I picked up the beatiful Dart that day. It came with a multitude of parts:

Fresh metallic blue paint

Refurbished interior

Early A body low back bucket seats

68 Dart dash

windshield

727 A body drive shaft

/6 drive shaft

904 tranny

small bolt 8 3/4 rear end with 3.23 posi trac

big bolt 8 1/4 rear end

Set of cop car wheels with with fairly new tires

Plenty of other stuff that I'm forgetting

And my dad managed to work into the deal an incomplete 1969 340

All that for my Jeep!

The car doesn't have a motor or transmission, so my plan is to build up a strong running 360/727 combo that I already have, convert the car to big bolt pattern complete with all new power brakes with discs on the front. Add power steering, and finish the interior. I have big plans to finish this car. I have most of the parts already from a Dart Sport that I've been putting together recently. Since I traded for this and it's so far ahead, I'm just going to swap everything from the Sport to the Swinger. I'll post more pictures and let you know what I do. Enjoy!

So today I decided to wash the car since it had been sitting for a while and got dirty. I couldn't wait to see what this paint looked like clean.

I'm trying to think of a name for the Swinger. Any ideas?

I have more pictures of the paint, but it's not allowing me to upload the pictures. I'll try and post them for everyone to see.

Looks like a nice start. Subscribed.

Alright here is the rest of the pictures. This blue looks incredible to me.

Also here are some better pictures of the inside. The guy told me that the bucket seats came out of an early A body, but he wasn't sure what. Any ideas? They look like a '66 Barracuda seat to me, but I'm not sure.

The door panels are in a lot better shape than most of the door panels that I already have. Since the seats that I'm using are black, I'm probably going to invest in a few cans of vinyl paint to change everything else to black.

I really like the white interior and you don't often see that, especially in that nice of shape. Personally, I wouldn't dye those nice white panels and back seat. I'd just use whatever black seats in it for now and eventually you'll run across some nice white seats to use in it. It's funny how that always happens. I'll want or need something, and not even really look, and it just turns up soon enough somehow. The white interior will be a lot cooler in the summer sun also. It's your car, but just really think about what you're doing there before you jump on the dye and regret it later.

Anyway, looks like a GREAT car. You're so close to being done. Just having that nice paint already done, you're most of the way to a really great ride.

Nice Swinger! Those black bucket seats look to be '67 Barracuda seats. I agree with 72Dodge above, Don't dye the rest of the interior to match the seats. White interiors look pretty cool!

Plus, you could probably sell those buckets for more than the cost of some nice later replacements, and certainly for less than a nice bench if you wanted to go that direction. You could be money ahead.

If the '68 Dart dash has an unbroken gauge cluster plastic bezel and you're not going to use it, PM me, I might be interested in it if you're going to part the extra dash.

Blue with white gut. Nice.

What kinda shape was the jeep in? What were the details with it

It's a 1980 CJ-5 with an inline 6 4 speed. It had a 4 inch lift with 35 inch tires. I loved the thing, but it wasn't what I needed. It had way too much rust in the body that wasn't worth the trouble. It was a fun vehicle to drive, but the carberator or fuel pump went out and I got tired of it. It had a "custom" rattle can paint job on it by yours truly with some cheap pinstriping from the parts store. Nice jeep. It just wasn't for me.

I appreciate the thought. It was just an idea of mine. I have just always loved black interior in any old Mopar, but I can see where you're coming from. Also, I have a super nice set of black buckets out of a '72 'Cuda that my dad borrowed from me. That and some Dart Sport seats that need recovering. Who knows, I may just fix those, but at the moment my mind is just racing with ideas and I'm not jumping to anything yet. Thanks for the comment!

My dad actually needs the dash for his one of his Darts. I'm not sure which one since it's hard to keep up with his projects as well as mine haha.

Great start man, to bad you had to get rid of the jeep im a jeep nut too.off topic but do you have any more pics of that white big window next to your dart? PM me so we dont cluter your build thread

Here you go. I'll let everyone see it. I don't want them to miss out haha. It's a 1960 Dodge 1 ton put on an S10 frame. Cammed 360 that sounds incredible. This is the only picture I have at the moment but I'll post a walkaround I made of it from YouTube in just a minute.

how is the exhaust routed on that beast cuz that is wicked cool!

Dual outlet Flowmasters that separate the pipe into two. Then separate those two to get four.
