I'm 5' 4.75" on a good day! And my arms don't reach very far....aaaarrrggghhh! I've tried using a step ladder to give myself a boost but I'm sure some of you clever folks out there have figured out a better way.

I was trying to get to bolts to remove starter. It's quite a stretch and could get good leverage without my feet on the ground.

So how do you reach those difficult places when you're working on your car?

Thanks!

i have long skinny monkey arms ....plus i have learned to be creative ....cheater bars ...butterfly impacts....swivels ...wobble extension bars.......swivel head ratchets.

thats why im a fan of lift off hoods ....the hood usually gets in my way bcoz i usually end up sitting on the engine or laying across it and getting to what i need from there

How about tying a sling to the rafter and lower yourself into the engine compartment? When not working on the car it would make a great conversation piece for when folks stop by.....

starter bolts might be easier from under the car......one should be 5/8 and the other 9/16 unless i had mismatched bolts ......i usually crawl under the car and get them .........i can crawl under the car without a jack ...but even if you have to lift the car ...might be easier

It's much easier from underneath the car on a V8, but maybe you're working on a /

Sometimes, a step stool will help with that or something sturdy to stand on.

Unless it's a slant six....

Maybe these would help? Shouldn't every well dressed member of the better sex be wearing these when working on their Mopar? I heard they're OSHA approved.

I'm 5'5'' and use a milk crate a lot!
Necessity is the mother of invention.........

I really didn't want a lift off hood, but that's what came on the gtx. But Damn have I grown to love it! It makes it sooo much easier to work "under the hood" Just don't forget to put the pins in :banghead: :banghead: I'm 5'9" and still use a milk crate a lot.

So I guess it is time. I am a tall 5' 7" and have to use milk crates, ladders and anything else that will hold my bulky ( nice word for fat) frame up. It is a pain in the butt, but the way I see it is that when it rains or snows the tall people get it first!!

I'm six feet tall and my wife is 6'-2" tall. She calls me her midget! :glasses7: When I can't reach something up high, I just. Ask her to do it.

I'm 5'10" and a big stocky guy. I know I'm not tall, but I get tired of being referred to as "short". I've always thought of myself as average height. It doesn't bother me a whole lot, but it gets annoying. And I'm fine with my height for the most part, because I'm as strong as on ox! lol

Off topic, but who doesn't love a woman in heels? Ha! ;)

Only one thing better. A woman in heels that knows her way around a car- now THAT is sexy!!
