A quick introduction, I have been struggling with work for several years, since 06 I have had 2 repossesions of mine and the wife's car, lost our home and basically my life savings just trying to hang on waiting for a change in the economy.

Since then we have been slowly rebuilding, I immediately bought the wife an older suburban, isn't much but I paid cash for it and with 3 kids at the time something larger was needed(we now have 4 kids). I had always liked our old neighbors 73 dart sport and ended up buying it for 500, it has sat for 10-12 years and needs a bit of everything but it's mine. Managed to buy another house with a loan from a credit union we belong to and although things have been ridiculously tight, we are managing, work is slowly picking up and I thought things were getting better....

My father was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy a few months ago which was hard to cope with on it's own as they have no cure for it. He kept having dizzy spells, falling a lot and one day he couldn't speak so naturally back to the hospital. After scans and MRIs they found he has brain cancer on the left side, where it's located they can not remove it, gave him 2 months to live.

It really puts things in perspective when you or someone you love has a terminal illness, for years I have been concentrated on trying to rebuild my families financial lives and not spending much time with my parents. I tell you, I was wrong. If you have your parents with you still give them a call or maybe just ride over and see them. The old saying your not promised a tomorrow rings ever so clearly to me right now I've missed time with my family and am still struggling financially... I am not saying don't work to better yourself monetary wise but damn, don't neglect what's really important, that's family.

I would just like to ask that when some of you do your prayers that maybe you could throw an extra one my father's way, we could sure use all the help we can get.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Martin

Reading this post reminds me of what is really important in life. I hope things take a turn for the better for you, and the man upstairs is watching over you and your dad in your time of need. Prayers sent.

Honestly I was a bit hesitant to post on the boards asking for prayer but wow, you guys are amazing. From my heart, I thank you all so much.

You did what was right by trying to keep a roof over your head. Do not feel
guilty, as you did not know this was going to happen.
Yes I understand that we sometimes do not pay attention to the REAL things
in life.
Prayers to your Father , to you and your Family.
GOD Bless.

My prayers are also going out to you and your entire family!! And I also agree with one of our above posters, you have been thinking of and doing for your family all along, and you have nothing to feel guilty about. Your father is no doubt very proud of you for working so hard to keep your family safe and together, using lessons that he taught you no doubt!! May God bless you and your family and keep you in His hands during this time of challenges, and may He lay His hand upon your fathers heart and offer peace and comfort!! Geof

Just an update and to ask for continued prayers.

My father has been going down hill pretty fast now, no longer has speech, mobility and now is not drinking or eating, basically giving him liquid nutrients via a small medicine dropper. Hospice came out to their house yesterday as my father has stopped urinating and said his kidneys are failing, basically the end is near.

My father is 73, was driving a dump truck just last year with us at work. This isn't supposed to be happening, it's pretty hard to handle as I am sure those that have lost a loved one know. I gave him his father's day card yesterday, read it to him and told him I love him and that we will be okay if he needs to go home.

Guys, this is hard. Real hard, just throw some more prayers up that some how God would heal him or call him on home.

Keeping you and all your family in my prayers Martin, yes I understand and glad you posted this to remind folks to spend time with our family while they are with us........ stay strong and count all the blessings you have had with your father, I miss my family and think of them most everyday.
