Well driving home tonight in my new toy. ( I won't bore people on this site with it). Turning down my street felt a little frisky. My 44 year old mind said don't but the 20 year old in me was controlling the gas. A good rip through 1st then 2nd and a slight third showed 85 then I backed it down to the legal 35. As I was pulling into my driveway I noticed headlights approaching very fast then lots of fancy lights. Opps!!! Lucky it was an older cop. I didn't say a word just handed him my papers. He didn't take them just smiled and said it wasn't wise because he had a v8 too. I told him it was a new toy and I guess I'm still 20 at heart. He asked me where I lived and I said right here. He then toke my papers came back in just a minute and told me to watch my speed with a smile. Thank God!! I guess I'll be idling in and out of my town for a while. I hate being stupid but I guess I just can't help myself. I guess it pays to be older then a young punk.

He was probably just thankful you weren't drunk.

Roflmao! I needed that laugh. Thanks very much for sharing this story. Glad you got off without a ticket. And home I can feel like a kid at heart as you do when I'm 40 8)

Still interested in the "new toy" lol

Well I hope I don't get hung or kicked off this site for this. I bought a 93 mustang notchback 5.0 5 speed. Kid was broke and I gave him a low ball figure and he took it. I paid equal for all the new parts that was put into it. never mind the clean freshly painted body.

Where's the smiley throwing rocks?! Lol jk glad you got a good deal

44 going on 20? Hell, I'm looking at 64 and my wife STILL accuses me of acting like I'm 20.
That usually doesn't change until after you retire and you're on a fixed income.

...then you think twice about it, and it becomes even more fun. :evil4:

Don't feel bad, I bought an 87 Corvette at a yard sale for $2000 about 2 months ago. Only the third Chevy I've ever owned out of close to a thousand cars. I didn't intend to buy a car when I went to the yard sale but the guy brought it up and it sounded cheap so I bought it. I'm a died in wool Mopar fanatic from way back but I gotta admit the Corvette runs pretty good and looks pretty good and I put antique plates on it so it was pretty cheap to transfer and the insurance only cost $69 for 6 months. No wonder theres so many Chevy guys out there! I don't suspect I'll run out and scoop up too many more chevy's but this ones OK for a cheap car.

I'm a "car guy", But also a MoPar guy (purchased my first MoPar, a 1968 Hemi RR, new in 1968, and have had, at least one MoPar in my driveway ever since). That said, what I've found to be true over the last 45 years, is that anything claimed to be 'wrong" with specific brands of cars (especially American brands) usually has more to do with the mindset of the person making the claim, than with fact.

Personally, I usually discount anything with a transverse engine and front wheel drive, no matter who made it. TO me, they are all garbage.
My signature states I like all brands of cars, not all types, or models.
I expect the usual rebuttals to a post like this. Things like "MoPars Rule", or "MoPar or no car", things like that, as I said, it's a mindset based more on opinion than on fact. Regarding the different brands of cars, no matter what you like, and no matter what you think, there is really only one truth:
Each brand made some great cars, and each brand made some lemons. No exceptions to that rule, either ;)

Good luck with your 'Vette. I've owned a number (about 6 of them as I recall) of them from a 1959 Roadster to a 2005, and each and every one of them was a blast to drive.

that sounds as bad as my freind just got done with his new buggy for silver lake dunes in michigan. well it has an ls7 motor in the back well he pulled out on to the road gassed it lifted the front wheels off the ground set them down drove off the street behind to the back of his house and up to the barn. well to cut it short by the time he got it back in the barn the police was sitting in his drive way. he said after it was all done the police man just chuckled. try to show more of the age you are not the as my wife puts it the inner teen ager, enjoy your ride

I'm with you, I have to give credit where it's due to the other manufacturers and there are a lot of models from other brands that I would love to own. I'm a sucker for ragtops so if the top goes down I'll take a look at it no matter who made it. I've been scanning craigslist looking for a cheap convertible Corvette that I can fool with. My wife already laid claim to the 87 so I suspect it will be around for a while.
