Well, after 2 years abandoned in the garage by me, and 22 years abandoned by the previous owner in a garage after years of being raced, the Cuda is back to life.

It's a 1967 Barracuda notch, originally a /6 auto, white bench interior, blue exterior. The interior is now white buckets with console, and the exterior is maroon. Now has a early 70's 360, 727, 8 3/4 with 3.91 SG, 26" radiator, tranny cooler, and big bolt discs up front with sway bar. Looking it over, the car has a 340 K frame with the welded washer, the 360 has J heads, an Edelbrock LD4B intake, a Holley 750 double pumper, a re curved distributor, M/T valve covers, a Mopar Purple cam shaft, etc. The 727 has a manual valve body, and the 3.91 is a 742 case.
One of the corners of the carb mount area was broken off the LD4B, so I replaced it with an Edelbrock RPM I had laying around. I robbed the distributor and M/T valve covers for the 340 in my Dart. I sold the rallye's off the rear and put on a pair of Cragar's to keep it a roller.
I bought a few fenders, dual exhaust cut out rear valence, turn signal housings, and other parts from a guy just outside Seattle. I traded a friend some parts for a set of front bumper brackets, headlight bezels (undented!), and front valence.
When I bought the car, it came with a spare NOS trunk lid, NOS doors, and an extra hood from a 1968 with the 340 S inserts. I swapped the trunk lid over recently, and plan on doing the hood soon since the one on it is tweaked a bit. I put the front end together today.

Here's pics from when I bought it..

Here's the thread from when I brought it home..

I had Carmen in the Valiant and me in the Cuda with a chain running from K frame to K frame. Carmen backed the Valiant down the driveway while I steering the car out of the garage. The only work I did to the car while in that garage for 2 years was change the timing chain to a double roller.
Got it running when out of the garage by swapping gas tanks, rebuilding the Holley, and cleaning the varnish out of the fuel pump. Everything was packed full of varnish! Changed the coil and ballast resistor, and it fired up! I had it running so good, I drove it down the street and around the block.

I fired it up yesterday, but couldn't get it to idle properly. I opened the hood to discover fuel pouring out of every joint in the Holley. Apparently I can't rebuild a carb, this is the 2nd Holley I've rebuilt and the 2nd that leaks. So I swapped over an Edelbrock carb I had on my 65 Fargo. No more leaks and the car idles properly.
Over the last few days I mounted the front bumper, headlight buckets, headlight bezels, remote mirror, door handles, NOS trunk lid, and better trunk trim.

The plan is to get it road worthy so I can drive it to the house Carmen and I are buying, and then go from there. I have a plan in mind to give this a cool 70's paint scheme, wide rims out back, etc.

The door panels are trashed, so I spray bombed a pair of red Duster door panels I had. They're way too bright for the rest of the car.

I pulled the passenger seat and back seat out to remove the carpet and check out the floor. Found the dead rat under the seat who chewed up my build sheet..
Annnd discovered my floor. Yikes! Not as solid as I hoped. Good thing my wire feed is full.

I think those seats are from a 67 Dart...how about pics from the bottom or back side?

Slap some headers,on it. Easy mid 12's . Nothing ugly, about any 67-69 Cuda notchie. Best of luck.

I have a 67 notchback too.....seeing this thread makes me want to go hug mine.

have you hugged your mopar today?.....I really do.

that's cool how you used a mopar to help another mopar out of the garage. I like that trusty valiant too

nice project. I'll be watching the thread :)

Looks good from here...All cars have to start somewhere. Hows the metal in the trunk

Wow!! How did I missed this Mike, I will be keeping an eye on this cool ride, I had no idea
you had this stashed away :thumblef: I hope a tech jumps in here and decodes the plate for you and I agree, the seat is from Dodge Dart 67/68.

Thanks everyone. Ugly Bastard was due to multicolored and rusty. I love the look of the notch 67/68 Cuda, don't get me wrong.

Scamper asked me for a video of it running in the other thread, so here's one I took today. I pull on the drivers quarter to show how bad it is. It may look ok, but it's rough.

Well, I put 1 day insurance on it and it runs pretty good. It pulls hard through all the gears, however when I stopped at the gas station I noticed something dripping underneath, quite heavy. Turns out there is tranny fluid pouring out of the bellhousing, soo the front seal blew out? I guess I'll pull the tranny when I get the car to our new house. Damn, I was having fun too.

Here's the proof I had it out today. Stopped at a friends to help him pull parts from a 63 Valiant wagon, and then stopped at Joe's.

Built May 1, cool. Seems to be pretty low optioned, though I do like the colour, blue on white/black interior.

2 ways to approach that trans fluid leak. If you have all the tools required to pull the trans, fine. That will likely get the ride back on the road sooner.
If you think it would be easier to pull the engine and sit on the K member while replacing that seal be forewarned.... Pulling the engine for any reason can lead to front suspension rebuild, engine bay detail, and more.
