Attn Moroso Valve Cover Owners!! 911 -- Please Read!

-
Lots of emails and PMs and everybody has the same burning question. What are they going to do about it???
tell people who are asking you that to read this:

We have not gold anodized valve covers since 2008. That means these are at least five years old...
...We do not have any valve covers in stock that have this issue. And I guarantee there are no new sets in the field that do either.

I am glad you caught it and it won’t be a future issue for your customer.

edit- btw, Leanna- I'm going to pm you about making some decals for you to give out if I ever get off my lazy butt and work on them lol

I figure if they got that far they've ALREADY read it.

I'll look forward to hooking up with you on the decals whenever you can! :-D Thanks

I swore off Moroso junk when my Moroso oil accumulator blew its top in my freshly painted engine bay... what a huge mess!!!
It was a poor design and was delivered with NO instructions about mounting points (or anything else) which I think may have contributed to the failure.
I replaced it with the real-deal, an Accusump.

:wack: Great. Excuse me, I need to e-mail someone I know who has a Moroso accumulator, now!

Thanks for helping to spread the word Jarlaxle. If this post helps even beyond the 17 who've already advised me they found hanging chads then it's all good. There's no such thing as too much knowledge sometimes.

Thanks Dave :-D

I just worked up a big brand new Edelbrock dress up kit and Performer intake. Every thread on the intake needed to be chased -- they were all sticky -- and their own logo is even crooked. LOL I was saddened to see that the valve covers and air cleaner assembly were also "Made in Taiwan." We're outsourcing ourselves out of a country ladies and gentlemen ... and our cars get to suffer for it as much as we do.

Wow.

Damn,Leanna.......

You know, when neighbors stop spending money on each other's stuff, eventually, neither one of them will have any to spend. I wonder why the economy is in the crapper? I don't think it takes an economic engineer to become the U.S. president's advisor. Just ask any resident of Detroit, Michigan.

I cringe when making credit card purchases, due to the surcharges made at businesses per use, sent to overseas accounts. I will hit the bank, before going out to local businesses, especially ones that aren't chains. Fair trade or die, bitches.

One of the first things I do when I make a big purchase, anymore, is look for a maker's mark.

If I see anything headed to places overseas where there is zero quality control (looking at you most of Asia), I will immediately think of an alternative. I either find something else or do without.

It's kept me from buying certain Craftsman tools, lots of auto parts and even clothing, lately.

Made in China

Made in Taiwan

All I can read is "Look Somewhere Else"

I just spent $200 bones on a pair of work boots from Red Wing. 100% of materials and hand cobbled in the United States. Best f-n' boots I've owned since the last pair of U.K. made Doctor Martens I owned were grown out of, in High School.

Those are also made in China, now, thanks to the Nike/ Gap corporation buying them out and relocating production. A friend had a pair. The leather faded in the heel and broke loose, after he epoxied a layer of the soul back together, before he threw them in the trash, TWO months into using them... to ride a motorcycle to an office job. And he still paid $130 for them, just like I paid $100 for mine in HS.

One of the nicest new things I've purchased recently for my car was that Street Demon carburetor. It was adjusted live and put away in the box with traces of test fluid. I took it apart to rejet it for Denver and found amazing quality control and craftsmanship everywhere you can see.

The truth is, you can't get quality stuff for cheap, anymore. That's just how it is.

Save a buck now on crap products. Because you'll spend two, later, replacing them.

For every dollar I've spent on new stuff, I think I've spent five on 2nd hand stuff, in the past 2-3 years.

It's not in the crapper because we're buying stuff from "them". It's in the crapper because "they" aren't buying anything from us. All you have to do is look at rate of imported cars into this country VS exported. Nuff said.

I finally got a chance to look this thread, and boy am I disappointed in the response by Rick Moroso. Kinda wish I would have ordered a different type of epoxy the other day. All you did was point out a flaw that could potentially cause big problems, and keep alot of people from destroying something they worked long and hard for. He didn't even really have to do anything, like he said, they stopped producing them in 2008. All he did was piss alot of people off and lose at least a few customers. Makes me wish I still worked at Summit, I could have mentioned it to some people in QC and they would have pulled and inspected all kinds of stuff.

I won't use moroso parts anymore for that very reason

But Rob, we have to actually MAKE SOMETHING HERE first for them to be able to buy it. Compare our exports now with those of even 20 or 30 years ago ...

One thing is certain: You will never get a box of parts from PSC that were restored overseas. Just like my ol' long lost relative Gabby Johnson in Blazing Saddles, I wash born here, an I wash raished here, and dadgum it I am gonna die here, an no sidewindin', bushwackin', hornswagglin' cracker croaker is gonna rouin me bishen cutter. :-D

Thanks for posting this Leanna. I have a set of Moroso's out in the shop that I plan on using on my teen. I'll be sure to check them out first. Have to see how things work out on my build, but may send them to you, and let you work your magic.

Idk how you wouldn't see that when installing the grommets. If ya miss that you might want to make sure you got oil in the pan, because damn....
As far as Moroso, I think most folks are looking at this from an owner/forum herd mentaility, and not from the perspective of a manufacturer with possible liabilities. 100% QC is still only 92-93% effective. He shouldn't have even responded on social media tbh.
Thanks for the heads up, I have a set of these on the shelf and was gonna toss them on in the next couple weeks. They'll be getting triple combed:)

Well, to me, it shows a total "don't give a ****" attitude from a parts vendor. The mere fact that he said "those haven't been made since 2008" shows that he doesn't give a **** about anything but getting your money NOW and nothing else down the road. It was pretty clear as crystal to me. That's a really crappy attitude.

I can do without another Moroso product. Ever. Screw that guy.

bottom line is big corp. and politicians sold out this country long ago. greed and politicians has gone hand in hand for many decades no doubt. pitiful.

couple decades we were told that our "future" was in technology, but yet we are so stupid the Chinese steals it daily. greed of corp. sends production of good overseas knowing it will be low quality crab, so the owners and/ or top execs can put a few more million in their pockets...

look at the greed of the medical/ drug industry!!!

we pump American crude, refine it here, and ship it overseas. ha

tell me this, when the farmer and trucker goes broke, what will the yuppies eat??????????

I understand, that's kinda my initial reaction as well. But I like to ponder, and have started to understand my initial reactions are not the best because I'm pissy. I drive/support dodge, the people who took money from every taxpayers pocket no matter who they are and you didn't even get a shitty valve cover. Kinda hard to balance boycotting Moroso with that.

I don't want to upset anyone here but...I see Ricks response differently. He admits to the flaw and apologizes and I think all he was asking was to be in on telling everyone. Leanne I have nothing but the highest appreciation for you. I think you are the Queen of FABO and would love to meet you someday. And I say this in fear because I do not want to offend anyone on here especially not you or your massive following. But... What if I would have posted something you would have done to show the Mopar world a flaw in your work. And all at once you see your product being criticized in public without your knowledge. Would you have not wanted me to contact you first? And then we could talk and do it together or at least you would have a heads up on any damage it could have done to your spotless reputation. I am glad you brought it to everyones attention and feel you did nothing wrong. I think Rick was asking to have had the opportunity to let it be known with his knowledge so he could be ready for damage control. I hope I have not offended anyone on here I love this site and the people who post are the best. But I had put my 2 cents in here.

You saw the part where she said she tried to contact him before and he didn't answer, right?

I also say she did the right thing without a doubt, as my engine and my resources are more important than Moroso's embarrassment over a tooling malfunction every damn day of the week.

If he wanted to be the hero here he had his chance to be involved in a positive way, but that reaction makes it look like it would have been a cover up attempt.

All he had to do was say "Thank you Leanna, for helping to watch out for Moroso's reputation and get this information out."

Being page three and pert near THREE YEARS later, this is not my initial reaction. But it is my permanent one.

Actually skizzo, those valve covers belonged to the guy you were replying to, RustyRatRod. So he DID get a shitty valve cover. :D

he only joined to do damage control... If you notice he didn't do a damn thing about this but complain about Leanna posting this...

He only joined to reply to Leanna's post, he hasn't posted since... what a POS....
