JEG's BLOWS CHUNKS

-
I've used both companies many times over the years
with no problems from either.
Of course both companies headquarters are an easy drive
from my home.
I believe both companies use the drop ship method, meaning
a lot of their products are shipped directly from the manufacturer
and not in their inventory.

I've had 2 issues with JEGS too. Never had a problem with Summit that they weren't real quick to work out. Much friendlier and better customer service with Summit IMO. JEGS don't ever seem to give a crap if they help or not

I'm a Summit guy, through and through. I shouldda known better. Found some 331 Hemi valve cover gaskets on Ebay. It was a Jegs sale. Good price and I am trying to watch every penny. I have to pay taxes on Summit stuff now since they have a store in Georgia. The Jegs price was a little less expensive so I bought them.

Got an email this morning saying they were discontinued and to call them for "other options". Only other option was some gaskets that were 53 bucks. The ones I bought were 28. No way would they price match, but they wouldn't even offer a discount. I told them to give me a refund. Then they couldn't even find my order. Finally found it and got it refunded.

They shouldn't even have stuff for sale if they don't have it in stock. Jeg's blows chunks and they suck nasty balls. Never again.
The same thing happened to me with Summit On some copper headgaskets. I guess they both have their faults. I try to order from Jegs most the time unless there is a delay in shipping etc.. If it wasnt for Summits douche bag pro stock pilots Id order from them. I like their website better it easier.

Got the wrong item from jegs once...and they email me a return shipping label....

I gotta say I was SHOCKED with Summit's customer service. I purchased a trans temp gauge kit from them installed it and it didn't work. I narrowed it down to the sending unit and told them about it. The next day I had a complete new kit at my house, return shipping label and all, NO CHARGE. They told me to pull the sending unit, put the bad one in the new kit with a note and put the return label on it and send it back. I know the UPS guy and he stood there in the garage shootin' the breeze while I did it and left with it.

Top notch in my book.

What all the bashers here fail to realize is the point I was trying to make. Jegs never had the valve cover gaskets in stock, yet, they advertised them on Ebay. I STILL do not have my money back. Paypal is holding it for an "investigation". Yeah, that's on Paypal, but if either they had the gaskets, or not advertised something they didn't have, this would not have happened. And btw, I called Summit and they HAD the gaskets on the shelf. Same part number.

Yes, it's a bit sus that they had them listed on the Bay and then not available, but hey, maybe someone walked into the store and brought their remaining stock while the listing was active. Big company with a lot of stuff and hard to keep track of everything.

My kid had a problem with Summit once upon a time...he ordered some parts for like $300.00 and paid via check by phone. What they did was put a draft against his account for the $300.00 and a credit hold for the same amount until the check cleared! So this meant he had $300.00 in his account, of his own money, that he couldn't use for 5-7 days! When he called and read them the riot act, they told him this was "standard procedure" and there was nothing they could do. That's a bunch of bullshit.

The problem as I see it isn't with vendors that do this, as almost everyone does it now. It's with all the scammers out there that screw it up for the honest guys. First time you got stuck with a fake check you'd be gun shy too.

Used both,as well as Competition Products. The only two problems I have ever had: First one was Doug Herbert Ordered some thin rings for a early 327 build. Three weeks later,no parts. Called three times, never credited back. Took trade on some mufflers . 2nd: Summit was 50:00 higher on the mandrel bent exhaust kit. Asked for the price match, they refused. They asked,if I still wanted to place the order. I laughed at him, quoted" Fifly bucks more expensive, and you want to close the sale? Later".Jegs at my doorstep,3 days later.

Solution: do not take checks. Credit or debit only.

I always buy with a card simply because I want the protections!

:blob:I was trying to put your 2 posts on my reply but it didn't work!....Anyway, your first post stated that you got it refunded but your 2nd post states that you still don't have your money back!....Did you or did you not get it refunded?....I've never had a prob getting a refund or credit in my case as I've always used a debit card.

I like em both...and like to keep my options open!....but been getting most from Summit simply because of a local Mopar racer (Johnny Mack ext #6646) that works for them and I want to support him. Even when I order over the net, there is a spot for his extension so he gets some "action".

any kind of issue with Jegs, they handled it in the most professional way immaginable, and I left happy....no complaints from me.

No, as of right now, I still don't have my money back. I don't know what Jeg's does differently with Paypal, but with Summit I have gotten overnight refunds. The refund is "in process".

If paypal is involved with a refund, it may take 3 / 5 weeks.... :wack:

i only order order stuff from jegs if summit doesnt have it. i dont like jegs that much. i dont really give a **** who or what prostock each place supports.

It happens if you used a bank account to pay with. I always use a credit card and so far I have had no hold ups.

Same here. PayPal claims they protect you but that's a bunch of bull. They won't eat a dime if the seller doesn't refund them, your just SOL. My credit card has eat things a few times where people tried to rip me off

Summit (store and distribution center) is right up the road from here (about 40 miles). I have never once called and ordered a part that I couldn't pick up the same day if I wanted to.
With Jegs there have been numerous times that the part I wanted was back ordered.

Both offer decent prices, and good service, however, it seems to me that Summit has a larger and more varied inventory, and because of that fewer back orders.

Just my 2¢

I refuse to use Paypal under any circumstances!
