Duster Rear Window Louvers

Looking great, guys! Glad to see someone is carrying on with both of these projects!
 
OK,
here is what I came up with.
It took a week to make the form. and a week to make the piece.

Here it is on the car, no top hinges, still too soft to handle. but it lays down very nicely.
They are made of carbon, go to my build thread for the details of the build

Yes they would fit a demon.
Now to the cost.
A lot of the cost is in the carbon and the style of the weave. In order to make them thin enough to be useful there is unidirectonal and med modulus 3K-5harness satin which happens to be $80/yd. So figure $200 in materials. It then took a week to produce the part. I dont know what you guys get paid weekly, so you put a figure in there.
With that in mind I really had no intention of selling these at this point.
BUT! after I get the car completed I was going to talk to some people about a cost effective way to produce these so they aren't ridiculously expensive.
So what we have here is proof of concept, I will follow up on this. By the way they are roughly the thickness of the piece of cardboard at the back of a legal pad.
By the way there is no center "rod" because the louvers touch the glass at two points cutting the span into thirds.That tight relationship to the glass was the engineering challange.

great work, i think they look good enuf you can sell them. quality parts these days demand a high price. otherwise you could get them made for pennies in china.

As far as my end goes it wont be till spring until I can get back into this and build the second half of the mold. Then I can figure out what the real costs will be to produce some of these.

Pawned, my statement was not directed at you, either. Don't assume you were included if your not. If the shoe don't fit, don't put it on. Just because someone makes a statement, doesn't mean some people need to get all bent out of shape thinking it is speaking of them. Lighten up, guy! I merely was saying, some will not be buying them when they see the price of what it will cost to make these. There is a lot of time in making anything like this from scratch, and someone needs to be paid for their time. I'd love a set myself, but I will wait to see how much they will cost. Only then will I know how badly I want a set. Apologizes to anyone who took my prior statement as meaning "them". I should have not typed "everyone", as I should have typed, "some".
 
I'm very interested and with all the shows I go to and getting in magazines that's free advertising for you so when you get them ready for sale let me know I'm in depending on cost times are getting a little tough out there
With my job a lot of companies are closing so my customer base is smaller and smaller
 
I have followed this thread from the beginning. I would love a set myself, but we will see what it would actually cost to get a set made. I am just happy to see someone was able to make a set. What i see looks pretty good, too. They would look great on my 1970 "340" hemi orange, Duster! Blue Missle, great job!
