Yep, total sell out.
Seems since Ford dropped out of NHRA racing, Force is trying to find someone to foot the bill.
He has been on his knees with KIA & HONDA to pay the way.
When you think about drag racing, KIA or HONDA are the first to come to your mind, isn't it?
Toyota is bad enough. I don't know what to think anymore.

Ford dropped out of NHRA?? Not that I'm a fan of either Ford or Force, but I'm surprised by that bit of news. Especially after Force won the championship and Ford the Manufacturer's Cup. Or maybe Ford winning the Cup was a ploy by NHRA to persuade them to stay on??

Agghh! The "professional" NHRA classes kind of disgust me anyways. Unless you have major financial backing from a sponsor with really deep pockets you simply can't play. The "smaller" guys are just cannon fodder for the couple of top teams anyway. I bet NHRA subsidizes some of the "smaller" guys just to get them in there so they can have a 16 car field. It's really gotten away from what it use to be.

what kind of engine will be covered by that fiberglass body?

Furd and Castrol dont leave until the end of 2014........

All Professional Drag Racers are whores...If Briggs and Stranton wrote them a check they would on a riding lawn mower....

Agree 70aar-My son and I are just starting this Drag race thing and I wish it was simpler as far as all these classes and trying to digest the NHRA rule book you need to hire a lawyer to read it,I wish it would just be simpler-bring your car to the track and race, the fastest car at the end of the day is the winner-simple-Were still trying to understand the break out thing and dial in-I love watching alcohol blown hemi's running 4 and 5 second runs but it is not for the little guy no way no how--Steve

I would like to see more nostalgia drag racing move to east coast. The closet they come to me is Bowling Green. I think a lot of people are unhappy with Nhra and Nascar. Or Nhra should make them run bodies that look closer to what a stock body should look. Plus go back to quarter mile racing even if they limit fuel pump size and one mag. I rather watch them run quarter mile even if they slow them down.

It could come down to a nostalgia series for NHRA.
Have you seen the stands latley? No full houses anymore.
Young people are not coming out.
The Professional classes cost way too much to race in, without major sponsorship.
When Warren Johnson can't compete, we have problems.
From what I understand, NHRA does not cater to Import/compact stock or super stock classes.
No reason for the youth to come out & cheer for their brand of car.
Don't kid yourself, it is about the brand of car, not the driver. This isn't WWF.
This is the route NASCAR has pursued, making the driver the star & not the car.
Result; No problem getting tickets to a race.
Kinda like Funny Car, these look like they should be in an experimental class & the Pro Stocks look like Funny cars.
Racing should be based off what the manufacture makes & less on making it equal.
I don't have a problem with KIA or Honda entering the sport, just put them in a class that represents what they sell.
Automotive racing is dying!

WJ has not been competitive for several years....He lost his GM Goodwrench spronsorship...but you never heard WJ complaint about the cost of PS went he had GM footing the bill...not he complaining everytime he see a microphone...lol

Does not matter who sponsors a pro car just like nascar a bunch stickers do not make a car. There is no relevance to what is a production car.

I hear ya! The announcers always make me snicker when they refer to Pro Stock as "the factory hot rods" - yeah, right! About the only thing on the car that is relavant to the actual production model is the model name.

NHRA had import drags a few years back. There was also an independent import drag series as well. They did OK for a couple years then started fading out. Guess the ADD crowd lost interest and moved on to whatever the next big thing was.

They made building a pocket rocket expensive when it used to be cheap. take a look at some of the parts for these rice steamers these days. Hell even stock replacement parts for my beater work civic are questionable.

It will still be a 500 inch KB HEMI. What's the difference?

Force could have the first rwd Honda to run 6's lol Honda does make a v8 for formula one that I've heard of people making some pretty nice numbers with. It just takes john force funds to afford it lol

Took the words right out of my mouth!

The whole Boss 500 engine what a joke!

Actually it was brilliant...he soaked Furd for millions....now he can pulled the decals off...and put new decals on ....

Actually based on Thursday night test and tune here locally the Honda sponsor ship could be an awesome relationship. Lots of young kids out there racing with modifying Honda cars these days (some that are pretty damn fast I might add). It's just business and he didn't sell out! He was left out in the cold by the corporate bean counters. :D

I would love to see force in a car with a BIG blue M on it. Sometimes I think that nhra & nascar is fixed because of the way the races turn out. Force hasn't done that well lately but all of a sudden ford is pulling out & he wins the championship. MMMM As for funny car I don't care what body they run we all know what powers that car. HEMI I live in pa. & I love to go down to maple grove & watch the dutch classic. Lots of old cars & HEMI cudas & darts.

well I guess I can be called an Import racer as I sold the mopar for my beetle.. It is just as fast as my old car and I can work on it all by myself..

I just do not like NHRA anyways. I would much rather compete at the local tracks then ever have to worry with big tracks and big rules.

I do not chear for any of the pro catagories..

Yep--Teat and Tune up here in Wis. is the ticket--the stands are packed and lot's of cars in line waiting to run also tech is relaxed and the track owners are making out real good on the test and tune nights and encourage betting while your staged in line--Steve

That's why I like these guys .http://www.ozarkmountainsupershifters.net/
They leave the line with the clutch and the only electronics they have is line lock. They are a impressive group! tmm
