Anyone ever used a Multiplaz welder?

-
I've never heard of these. What do they cost? Who supports them for parts in the U.S?

I tried to do some Google research on these after seeing your post. The demos I saw all showed 2 pieces of metal that were laying side by side being welded. It would be nice to see some overhead welding and possibly some sheet metal (body panels) being welded. They say gasless and almost no spatter. I do like the combination of being able to cut and weld with only 1 machine as they advertize too. It sounds like a new one sells for about $2000. I guess I'd like to hear from anyone that might have used one too.

yeah, my dad has been looking into getting a TIG welder and stumbled on these... he asked my opinion and I told him I'd reach out here and see if anyone had used one.

Seems like alien technology.

.....................For only 2 Gs, if I were in the market I would give it a try if it lives up to expectations......kim.....

Some of these companies can sell ice to an eskimo. Go figure. They sell TV's with dvd's built in. When one goes bad what good is the other.

Looks good to me, but as I struggle with deciding on my first welder I need some real world usage reports.
Can't lay out $2K on advertising claims alone!

OK, after reading your initial post and having tried to research them online, I became very interested. I was in the market for a new welder and was leaning towards a Miller (the welder - not the beer). So after checking on eBay I found a near new one for sale for $1400 and decided to give it a shot. I figured I was going to buy a new welder anyway and am hoping that I just saved $600 rather than blew the $1400. After I get it and get a chance to check it out I'll post a review.

Depends what you want to do with the welder. I have a Lincoln Square Wave 175 TIG and one of the Eastwood 130 MIGs. The TIG is more flexible and welds steel and aluminum but takes some practice to be good. The 130 MIG is faster to learn and will handle sheetmetal up to about 1/8 inch (not 1/4 as Eastwood would tell you). I am actually planning to replace the 130 MIG with the larger Eastwood 175 so I can run thicker metal. MIG is definitely faster than TIG in putting down welds. If you want your welds to be pretty AND strong, get a TIG and practice, practice, practice...... If you only weld occasionally, go with the MIG.

Gee, I wonder why it was near new and for sale. If it is new technology, I would not buy it unless I had an in person demo, not a video. They can do miracles and virtual special effects in videos.

Hey i just bought an Hobart 210 mlt voltg you can use on 110 or 220 it was 800 delivered then i bought a spool gun for aluminum and a 320 argon btl and a 320 argon/CO mix this thing rocks.

I've been a welder for almost 30 years and AM skeptical about this new welder. I've made some pretty stupid choices in the past and am hoping this won't be another. If I hadn't been in the market for a new welder right now, I'd have waited and let someone else be the guinea pig. The thought of saving $$ on this deal at this time just seemed too good to pass up. I don't usually do that much welding at home so the concept of combining a welder with the capability of a plasma cutter seemed practical to me. - As did the ability to weld without CO2, Argon, or C25. I cringe now whenever I need to purchase Oxygen and Acetylene. I'd been able to get by with a flux-core 110 wire feed for some small jobs around home but was always borrowing my buddy's Hobart whenever I really needed unquestionable results. As far as the spool guns go, I've always hated how bulky they are but this dang thing uses guns that look about the same size. One of my first projects (after I make sure this thing will give good results) is to weld on some subframe connectors. I hope this thing is overhead friendly.

1967 'cuda pulled the trigger. Thanks for being the guinea pig - er - beatin' the bushes for the rest of us.
I'm looking forward to hearing back from an experienced welder actually using this new technology on a project
many of us are familiar with. I hope it works overhead, too.

That would be a lot of equipment to be out of service if something broke.

I would find out who has the best support in your area and buy their products.
It doesn't matter what brand you buy if you stay with quality.
ESAB, #1 in the world Ever heard if TIG?
Miller #1 in America
Lincoln, #1 in the color RED. (a joke)

My ESAB was made in South Carolina

thanks for the input guys, My dad ended up buying an Eastwood 175 amp MIG welder with a spool gun. (He has a lincoln 100Amp now that is starting to have issues)

Just ordered one of those myself to replace the 130 MIG I have. Couldn't pass up on the free shipping....
