I started a build a couple years ago with an all Original Lil Red Express. I have owned the truck for 15 years. I know its not an A-Body but this turbo forum has been very helpful in the direction I am going with the truck. I apologize in advance to the purists for what I have done to this truck. I am using a 408 magnum block stroker for the power plant 727 trans, ford 9" with ladder bars and coil overs. Twin GT45's have been ordered and the Dakota short headers are supposed to arrive today. I will get pics out soon.View attachment express 5.jpg

Doesn't bother me. Build and enjoy! I have a friend with one and a 392 HEMI. I've been on him to put the 392 in the truck. How cool and different would that be?

Cool ! I'm definitely going to be following your build ! What size Mickey T's are you running in the back ? That's something like what I was planning for my Warlock .

They are 33x21.50x15's. I am going for a pro-mod look. I'll never be able to afford one so I figured why not build a street legal look alike. It will have funny car style 12 point cage and a small aluminum wing off the tailgate.

If you need anything for that, you may want to contact Moran Motorsports. He is a racer that does 5 second 1/4 miles in twin turbo cars. His shop can make and build anything. Check out their website:

Dam , That's gunna look sick under those rear fenders ! We ran 17.5's on the 440 lil red we had way back when and they looked nice . But 21and a half inch's of meat under the back ? All I can say is IIIIIIIII LIKE IT ! :-D

My cousin took an original 77 Warlock and ladder barred it, dropped it, etc. His has 31x17x15's though, just a little smaller, w/Weld prostars. Truck is painted Jet Black and he hunted down all Mopar restoration parts like the grille, chrome side steps, chrome strips between the wood in the bed, etc. He refused to go to the parts stores for bolts! He'd go to the junk yard and get the factory original bolts for everything. He made it a point to get access to older dealerships looking for that NOS stuff.
Truck has a mild 440 and he could drive it 100mi one way to St. Louis and run 12.70's and drive it home.
Talked to my other cousin...his brother....and now they're building a twin turbo'd 440 for it. Truck looks absolutely sick.....can't wait to see yours done!

I have the original motor still all the oak boards and stainless trim for the inside of the bed. Have not gotten around to designing the bed yet. With the new frame section and the roll bar not sure If I will reuse that stuff or not. Plus I would rather not destroy that hard to find stuff that someone could use for an actual restore. When I'm done I will most likely just give away what ever I have left. The original motor is up for grabs for the right $$. Not sure if I am supposed to say that in this forum. I apologize in advance if I broke the rules.

If your going to "give" any of that stuff away then don't forget your friendly neighbor with the big block 79 Warlock that's working on a no-budget budget . :-D lol

Got to love a truck that is designed to do more then just haul stuff. subscribed

Oh , Something tells me this truck is going to be hauling something all right . But it wont be lumber or anything like that . lol

Mad Dart, you sir have helped me quite a bit even though you don't know it. Like you I did a lot of research before buying those headers. The one draw back is they are 2'' collectors so I think I need to step the pipe to 2 1/2 for better flow.

Been the truck route. Not with turbos but a 500" RB, 2-625 Carters and 33x21.5 Mickies on the rear Dana. Hell getting it to hook! C.E.'s Slid-a-links helped alot!

There is a LRE here in South Texas that has a 12V Cummings pushing 100 pounds of boost! Crazy setup!!

My ol' Ram,
