this is cool, take that 600 carter/brock down to 500CFM with these: slip over primary booster and JB weld, cuts 100 CFM off primary side due to fatter walls of booster.

I say build more motor.

Does it really make THAT much difference? 600...500...? Anything that runs on a 500 will run on a 600...now if it would take a 750 down to 5/600, THAT might be useful.

Good idea, though not cheap. Had he made it dual annular tubes, it would look like a Quadrajet, which had excellent atomization and was one of the most efficient carburetors made.

i wonder if they make it for the holley carbs. would be nice to do this to a 600 4150 for a mild slant.

Think mileage helper or a easier way to run dual quads with what you have. In example, a Edelbrock D-66/64 dual plane dual quad on a 340/360 could use 2-500's. OR 2 400's on a 318/340/360.

It's a lot cheaper than a pair of new carbs.

I asked this question....

Years ago I built a Ford 250 cube inline 6 crossflow with alloy head, fitted a modified Holley 600 on it.....went like hell....had 275hp at the treads on pump fuel.
It was still pulling at 6,500rpm on the dyno, but the guy didn't want it to blow up on the dyno.
It was a 4sp manual with 2.92 LSD.

Carter made a 400 cfm carb many a year back, but very hard to find used now. I ran a cast iron dual quad 383 in the early 1980's with electric chokes on both carbs and it got 2 mpg better mileage then the best single 4 setup that I had tried. Also cold start with the dual quad was almost perfect.

Thank you amx364 8) now I have some info on where and how to set out to make a search for one (400 cfm Carter) for my needs, My holley has been good to me but Carter has always been my pick for my DD ..

I do not whom may have any 400 Carter's. These are really hard to find. I do see them on e-bay from time to time. Mostly for Corvettes. Very pricey and most need to be rebuilt or there already done by a shop.

Edelbrock only makes them as small as 500.

Thank you 8) I knew you would be the person to ask :coffee2:

So, could you use these to reduce a 500 Carter to 400, as MeMike is looking for? You'd still have the same size throttle plates as a 500, which may be too large for certain manifolds.

That's correct about the butterfly being possibly to big. That would be the issue for a intake like the Poly dual quad intake. Being I only have a pair of 600's on hand, I had a machinist machine the 4 hole pads into 2 ovals.

IF there is another intake that is like this, I do not yet know of it. I can check my D-64 tomorrow.
