New 2014 Pro Stock Dodge Dart!

-
So what exactly does the Pro Stock "Dart" have in common with the production Dart? Other than the name of course...

Prob not a damn thing...be cool to see the 2drs in production, not saying I like them, not saying I dont...

It is funny that Pro Stock only allowed Dodge to run the Neon body style through 2003 as they had a rule stating that racers can only run a production built body that was available in a 2dr. model from the factory. And that it had to be no more than 5 years after the production of said models. This is why Dodge had to change bodies in 2003 since 1998 was the last year they produced a 2dr. Neon. Now I guess that rule is out hence 2014 Dart pro Stock!

I could give a rat's patoot about the fuel cars but always watch Pro Stock,Stock,Super Stock and Super Gas and Super Street if it's running. Also like Comp eliminator. I actually prefer going to the Divisional races where they run the "sportsman" classes. I can enjoy a good bracket race just as much. I have a friend that races Super Gas and he says many of the touring "sportsman" racers feel drag racing is soon facing a transition in the way things are run. Sorry for straying off topic somewhat....I for one like the new style Pro Stockers. Been a fan of the class since they were running times some stock eliminator cars are now running.

What do you mean by transition? After this year I'm going to see how things go and was debating trying to get my Nhra license. Just curious as to what kind of changes I might be facing.

NHRA is trying to get people in the stands, that is the reason for the New Stock class: “Factory Stock” made up of cars from Stock AAA, AA, BB & CC classes.
• Preliminary index – 9.70

• Preliminary weights
  • 300-450 CID naturally aspirated – 3000 lbs.
  • 451+ CID naturally aspirated – 3475 lbs.
  • All supercharged – 3675 lbs.
They all run off a 9.70 index heads up and above are the weight requirements.

If NHRA wants to put people in the stands...cut the ticket price...

I don't think he was talking about anything drastic happening over night so I wouldn't worry too much. Entry fees have become a bigger expense as has fuel to get there.Expenses keep going up but payout's don't.Even contingency pay has become a big hassle for some products. They just feel like the ugly stepchild compared to the Pro's but I think it's probably always been that way.

That is so true. A group of my friends and I have been going to the Gainsville Fl. Gatornationals for many many years. I have only missed one year since it's inception in 1970.
But due to the fact most of us are retired and the fact that is so damn expensive, we have decided that this is going to be our last year. Yesterday we get a call from the campgrounds we have stayed at for years now has doubled it's rates this year! A top Eliminator ticket cost $360.00 dollars.
So yes I agree lower the ticket cost= fill the stands!

And what most people fail to realize , is that without the Sportsman classes, there would be no professional racing!

i dont care to watch the fuel cars....I like the pro stockers...have been watching them since 1972...
the racing is close....wins by thousands....hole shots wins...exciting...to each his own...

Agree[/QUOTE]
Me too...

...the only difference between them will be decals.

It's already happened. Look at the profile of the Camaros, Mustangs, Avengers, Camrys and now the Darts. If it wasn't for the decals we wouldn't know who to root for.

I enjoy all the pro fuel and door slammer classes but I like to go watch during qualifying when the real stock classes run at the end of the day.

I grew up with it, so the fuel cars don't do anything for me either. I like to watch pro-stock.

I can watch SuperStock and Stock all day! But I'm biased, as my Father did it for many, many years.

Yup, I agree 100%. Fixing to go to the Gatornationals camping for 4 days been going every year since 1970, except one year I was sick. I spend all day Thursday and Friday at the track watching the sportsman classes. And I'll catch two rounds of Pro Stock qualifying, and enjoy camping Saturday and Sunday. I won't even go to the track.

Got 4 sets of tickets in mail today for the Vegas national event....always good to shop early....lol
