2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat: The End is Near…

-
All I can say is lol. There gonna need every bit of that 600HP to turn the tires on that hog. Oink.

Hotrod mag said they're betting it'll have close to 700 to out do the GT500's 660hp!! I hope!! Not that I'll be able to buy one... Yet!

Have you ever started a thread and felt like this?

LOL!! No but I can imagine I would if I started a thread about how cool the new Chally's are!! Lol. However, regardless of anyone else's opinions I've personally loved the challengers ever since they brought em back!!

I think it will still be in trouble when it runs into a GT500.

It's unfortunate, but I tend to agree. I think the weight difference will be more of a factor than people realize. I HOPE not, but I'll have to see the results first. Chrysler has had so many opportunities to blow the competition completely away and come up short. I think the last decisive victory was with the 2nd generation Hemi. That's a long time.

I do not like the name "hellcat". Sounds tacky and certainly something more intelligent would be more attractive. However, love the car!!! I'm sure 600 hp will have plenty of power, and the weight to horsepower ratio could be offset by torque to move the weight

I don't think it will have trouble turning the tires with 640 hp 640 lb ft of torque. This is what allpar is predicting hp level will be. Unfortunately short of fords 660 hp.

Impressive! If I had the means, I'd buy one.
Who gives a **** if it can or can't "beat" a GT500???

So, let me get this straight.... Are only the fastest cars on FABO worth anything?

To most HERE, it's lost before it ever hits the track. :banghead: I lined up a 318 2bbl 2.76 geared 73 swinger against a 74 350 4bbl Camaro. On paper I lost too, but when we went out of town and someone said "GO", I held his front bumper by my door the whole way through and pulled out a WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apples and oranges. The Mustang and Camaro in my honest opinion are more pony than muscle. Fast yes, small yes. I love my 13 SRT8. Plenty fast and a lot more room than the others. We'll have to wait to see what they really are when they come out. I do agree that the name "Hellcat" is a little iffy, but, can't wait to see em!!!

Of course not. It would just be nice to see Chrysler actually put something on the showroom floor that could actually compete right off the bat that doesn't cost as much as a HOUSE, with no modifications that didn't outweigh the competition by a whole nuther engine. And then some. I don't think that's too much to ask.

I suggest we give it a chance to compete. What ya all say, huh?? After it looses (if it does), then we can complain....... but it very well may not loose.... after all, I had a 220 hp (2.2 turbo IV) '91 spirit R/T that destroyed a 225 hp '90 GT 'stang. Let's not close the book before we open it...... JMO

Link isn;t working for me... What's the sticker of that new Challenger with the "Hellcat"?
Hellcat...lol. That's a bluefish boat that goes out of New London... Not the name of a good engine. What'd they hire the Buick guys for marketing?

I'm not closing anything. All my comments are based on the Challenger out NOW. There's no way to judge what's not come out yet. I hope they do to it what they say. From what I've READ they SAY they are gonna cut weight with all that power too. I'm a show me kinda guy so I base everything on PAST record. Fair enough?

Yeah... but think about it. "Challenger" sounds cool now because its evolved... but I might think its a weird choice if it never existed and was thrown on the back of a car in this generation. What if they had called it the "Dodge Opponent".

How did the GTO become "Goat"... cool name now- but?

The GT500 weighs in at 3850 and the SRT8 weighs in at 4170...little over 300lbs different. Not that bad of a difference seeing that it's a 'full' bodied car not a little pony. I tried out both cars when looking for a new one, my wife and I both agreed that Stang was nice but just to small of an interior for us. So I bought a Lincoln. :)

I’m working on it.
Chrysler called me for advice.
