I'm looking to swap to a v8 in my 64 dart, but want to keep the typewriter. 318's, etc. are not hard to come by, but always have the later 904. Can I convert a later 904 to pushbutton?

I have a 64 dart w/slant I want to swap to v8. 318's etc. are not hard to find, but are always coupled to the later 904 - I want to keep my pushbuttons! Can this be done?

Been a long time since I've fiddled with a PB TF. Isn't the case different? Where does the "park" cable enter? Aren't there two cables?

Look up Imperial Services. They changed the name to American something-or other but I think it will link.Anyway Steve, the owner will rework your push buttons and makes a adapter for the transmission along with new cables to run the later torqueflite. I got a kit and cables to do this to a 65 cable column shift B body that he makes. We talked about doing my 64 Belvedere push button when the time came, so I know he has the stuff.

you will need an adapter for the slant to v-8 mount. Lawrence

Imperial Creations used to make an adapter cable IIRC. I heard that they don't sell direct anymore. Try Schumacher.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I know someone who does. Pat Blais.

Easiest, least expensive route is to find a '64-65 V8 cable shift trans, or at least the transmission case.

(Note: '64 was last year for push button shift, with '65 going to a column shift lever. However, the trans was still cable controlled in '65, just with the cables originating from the lower end of the steering column, or the floor shifter.
'66 was the first year for the "hard" linkage.)
