That was my first thought too, but might be legit. There are actually some reputable business people on craigslist. so thought would pass it on and maybe someone is from Detroit that can verify it and let us know.

It looks as though it's in Elgin, Illinois, or am I not reading it correctly?
 
If this is real then someone, hopefully on FABO will snag it and they won't even need a mask.

Yeah left message with seller any questions for him I should be sure to ask? Does sound like a killer deal. I have a few friends from the Detroit area looking into the seller also will post info if I hear anything good.

I prefer morning wood rods, they are made of a harder material and last longer than pine........

I'd ask for paperwork/receipts.
 
The only thing new is the 2 mufflers. Could be a tear down of a built engine. Nothing says its new parts.
 
I think you were seeing ads from other areas, because unless there's something unstated in the ad, it looks like it's in Elgin, IL. All the seller's other postings are from Chicago CraigsList also and it says Elgin on all of them. Or did the seller tell someone here that it's in Detroit?
 
Someone leave it in his shop and he is just selling it for labor. I found a 383 like that, went back with cash but it was gone, instantly.
 
The location is 15 miles West of Chicago, I talked to the guy and he seems legit. The engine was built for racing and some local shows but is definitely not a daily driver.

X2 I bought a built 340 for parts and Labor. Guy never returned to machine shop to pick it up after it sat there for over a yr. Shop sent multiple registered letters and left many messages. Fresh 450 HP solid roller 340 with ported edelbrock heads and I got it for $1200

Lol, why are you looking in Detroit, when the engine and seller are west of Chicago? I'm confused. :???:
