Does anyone have photos of the transmission tunnel for a 4 speed set up in a 2nd generation Barracuda. I am looking for OEM photos with cars that were optioned with the 4 speed console. Photos of the console removed. I pulled the console from my floor shift automatic and there are several brackets that the console are attached to. I am under the impression that the same holds true for the manual shift optioned console. Thanks!

I am doing the same swap as you.
Auto console to 4-speed console.
I don't have the pictures for you but I can tell you I have seen a lot of torn or pinched
shifter boots on these consoles. The fit is different from car to car so I wouldn't
risk copying another car. I would build it to fit your car.
I plan to do mine in this order after I have test fit and adjusted shifter and linkage
on the bench to confirm everything is in order.
1- cut auto shifter mounting bracket off tunnel.
2- position 4-speed tunnel so it fits floor contour and
mark floor below shifter boot opening.
3- remove the floor where you marked to create a small opening
for shifter. Doesn't need to be pretty. Will open up larger later.
4-Install transmission bell housing and shifter without rods. Have lock pin
Inserted in shifter to keep it in neutral.
5-check fit of tunnel to floor and for shifter being centered in opening. And trace around
tunnel with sharpie.
6- make final cutout of floor inside line about 1"
7- install all linkage and confirm adjustment is still correct.
8-weld in tunnel
9-remove centering lock pin from shifter and set console in place. Run shifter thru all gears
including reverse to check for interference with console.
10- if all is good open lid on console and mark floor thru the holes in floor of console.
This will give you your best position for console to transmission so shifter handle don't crash into console while in use.
That is how I would go about it. It is the only way to be sure.

Yes, I will be doing the items you outlined. The manual tunnel is a lot diffrent than the automatic and per your comment fitment is different from car to car. I am installing an A833 4 spd. and currently gleaning for parts. I will retain the automatic for now until I get the body work completed. The drive train will be done after I have accumulated all the components. You commented about removing the console brackets, but the console still needs to be mounted to something. This is the only picture I have (rear console bracket) as I was doing seat belt reference photos. I am at home now but will swing by the shop tomorrow after work and take some photos of the console front mounting bracket and post. Thanks for the info.

By the way FABO members if you need 1967 Barracuda reference photos because you dissasembled something and forgot how it goes togther, PM me with your e-mail and I will send you photos. I have done numerous restorations and catalogue/document the disassembly and reassembly process with photos. The current project is a complete unrestored 1967 Barracuda notchback and is currently in disassembly mode. No reassembly photos at this time.

The front and rear console brackets are the same whether auto or 4-spd, including the placement. Here's a video from a FABO member that happens to be showing measurements on a 2nd generation Cuda...

Ignore the shifter stand measurements since it's an automatic install shown in the video..

Here is what my floor looks like. Sorry about the bad pictures it was dark.
The auto console brackets are still mounted to floor.
There is a small bracket that I am guessing is for the console but haven't
fit it all to know for sure.
There is no screw hole in the tunnel bracket??? I don't know the year of tunnel
I have as it was a eBay find.
The front auto bracket doesn't look like it is used with the 4-speed tunnel
If the one I have is correct. Nothing has been removed from my donor
tunnel.
So I don't have all the answers just what makes sense with what I have.

I just went out and checked my brackets to the ones he posted in the video
and they don't vary any from his anywhere over a 1/4". Mine are factory installed
also.
Does anyone understand the bracket mounted on my donor tunnel?
Why wouldn't the front console bracket be welded to my tunnel?
Thanks for starting this thread as I have been curious about a few
things on this swap and was for the most part doing what made the most
sense to me.

The front console bracket should be welded on the tunnel..

The 2 vertical sides of the bracket should have holes/openings that match up with the holes on the front of the console to attach it...

Hope this helps!

That does make the most sense. That is how my auto console was mounted.

This bracket welded next to the opening on my 4-speed donor tunnel is what I don't understand.
And why is there no front mount welded to this tunnel?
Could this tunnel not have been for a console like I had thought?
Or could the welded bracket be there just as a place to secure a wire harness?
I see no need for a harness as the cigar lighter has a chrome plug (dash mounted)and their is no light. Tach option?
I guess if my tunnel didn't have that mystery bracket welded to it I would have just believed
it was removed from a non console car.
I can just ignore it but if someone knows I would be glad to hear why it is there??

^^ That pic is a seat stop bracket for a bench seat...

Thank you. Now that makes alot of sense. That's why no front bracket also.
You da man.

I guess I opened a can of worms. All I have for reference is the aftermarket manual transmission conversion panels. These 4 speed tunnel panels look like they set to the left of the tunnel and not the center. When I view the aftermarket photos the shifter is offset to the side and panels are squared off. If this is the case, the console mounting brackets would be different. I need to remove the carpet to get a better idea of dimensional specifications on the automatic. Need to think this one through. Really appreciate everybodies input.

No can of worms opened here. The front and rear console brackets are the same from auto to 4-spd, as well as the placement.....Set your 4-spd console in place and see for yourself

Sorry I didn't want to confuse you with my own confusion of the seat stop bracket.
Just forget about that. It was for a bench seat four speed without a console.
Everything else posted is correct.
The console will be mounted center same as the automatic. It uses the same
front and rear bracket likely in the same position.
The center bracket will need to be removed as it is for the automatic trans only.
The 4-speed tunnel is mounted to the left of driveshaft tunnel.
The 4-speed shifter takes a different handle for the console option than for nonconsole.
The special shifter handle is built with a offset to move it over to the right so it can come
out of a center mounted console.
Here is a picture I found so you can see it rather than read it.
Hope this helps.

The second tunnel (nut4vintage) does not look the same as the tunnel pic posted by "6pk2goDemon". Although you might make it work you might have trouble making it fit. Treblig

Ahhh! That last picture was what I was looking for. The brackets look to be located at the same points and the conversion should not pose any real problems. Little nip and cut here and there. Thanks 6pk and SSBA, appreciate you guys taking the time to respond. One of the guys at work has a buddy selling a 1965 4 spd. Cuda. Pretty solid car. Bit rough but price is reasonable. Will check to see if they would like me to post on the site.
