I am looking to see if someone can help me line out a parts list for a T-56 Magnum behind a 5.7L Hemi.

I'm having a hard time in my research with people discussing a T-56 versus the T-56 Magnum [Aftermarket TR6060]. I am sure there are some similarities between the two, but I would like to have a list as concrete as I can get before I order parts.

From what I've researched, I have found the following to be recommended for my swap:

  • Transmission: T-56 Magnum - GM/LS1
    26/31 spline input/output
    Ratios:2.66,1.78,1.30,1.00,0.80,0.63
  • Pilot Bearing: OD of the input shaft should be 0.600". I need to determine the OD and thickness needed to fit into the 5.7L stock crank. Anyone have that info available?
  • Clutch Disc: RAM 359 - 26 spline - 10.5" Diameter - 1.125" Input Shaft - Organic [Just picked one I thought would work, if it's wrong, lmk!]
  • Pressure Plate: McLeod 360703 - 10.5" Diameter - Diaphragm Style [Just picked one I thought would work, if it's wrong, lmk!]
  • Flywheel:Hays 490-11-530 [other recommendation?]
  • Throwout Bearing/Clutch Master Kit: American Powertrain T56 Magnum Kit - HMGM-01201SR
  • Bellhousing: Quicktime 8077 - 5.7/6.1 to Viper/LS1 T-56 - According to the link, this bell will fit the LS T-56 Magnum without an adapter.

That bell puts the starter on the passenger side. You want the one I have, RM-8074. This is SB Mopar to Viper T56 and will work just fine plus it will use a regular ole Magnum starter. There is already a sticky thread on here that covers T56 swaps.

A straight Viper takeout trans can make things a tad easier too because you can keep a standard driveshaft yoke. I think with the GM ones you'll have to have a GM yoke. Not necessarily an issue if you're getting a driveshaft made from scratch, but I already had an aluminum made for my 833 and didn't want to have to buy another yoke since I just bought one.

He is looking at the LS1 version of the T56 Magnum. Those use a 31 spline Ford C6 yoke. No big deal, the Magnum is Viper T56 basically with the trans mount a little less further back and a few different shifter location options. But other than that it installs just like a Viper takeout. Why Tremec didnt call it a Viper/LS1 app I dont know, they must of figured it would be the lesser of 2 evils to confuse the Mopar guys instead of the Chevy boys.

Thanks for the input, I wasn't sure if I needed the Hemi bell or the SB bell. I definitely need the starter on the driver's side to clear the TTI headers. As far as the sticky thread goes, I was trying to make sure there wasn't some Magnum-only quirks that I'd run into with some of the parts that got bundled under the "T56" name.

I assume the LS/Viper to Hemi pilot bearing will be the same as the regular T56 to Hemi as well?
