I took the plunge and bought a set of headers last week. The problem is that they are used and in need on paint. I am going to blast them to get them ready for paint, but am not sure how to finish them. Let me know what you have tried and what worked along with what did not work. Thanks!!

Have this problem myself, have used cheapo headre paint but burns off on the first good drive, looking forward to seeing some of these replies!!

I saw some stuff they used on Power Nation and actually tested it on a dyno.

It held up real well while they were doing it. It's a spray on ceramic coating, but i don't remember who made it. Maybe check Summit's site for it.

I have used black header paint on the last two sets of headers and have had no problems. Both times, I removed all paint by media blasting and then wiped them down with lacquer thinner before painting. I think when people try to paint over the cheap primer that comes with the headers, that is when they have problems.

Contact Leanna, she has talked about this in the past. Something about ceramic coating them in your garage or sumtin like that....

Maybe a little late to the party but, I have used Eastwood's Hi Temp Coating and it works really well.

eastwood exhaust manifold/header paint.. put it on with a foam brush. if rus pops anywhere scuff and touch up with a foam brush..

I spoke to Leanna and she pointed me towards a ceramic coating that I can do at home! Wish me luck as I give it try!

This is what my son Creed said he is going to use, it's like applying Por 15 I think :coffee2:

:-D ... Cerakote High Temp Ceramics, the best in the industry. You can get it from NICIndustries.com. Just like any finish, prep is everything; the materials are expensive so get with a few of your local buddies who also need to get it done and split the cost.

Thank you leanna, I believe I have four people that would most likely jump in on this ...
I will do some investigating and see what I can learn about it and get back here.
