Hi Gang and Happy New Year!,

Well, after a year off from working on the car and having it taunt me every time I go in the garage I am re-re-building my 273 and trans. 2 1/2 years ago I rebuilt the top end (Thread here) and enjoyed a good year+ of what I considered my optimal build and it was my daily driver. Then she got retired from daily driving and became a full time project/weekend car. The motor/trans has been out for over a year and I am just now getting some free time to wrench on it again. I wanted to post some pictures and videos during the process and hopefully get some advice from you Mopar Jedis along the way.

In the end, I want to have a fully "blueprinted" drive train and resolve all of the mysteries the previous owner left me with.

Some tear-down picks:

Good start. I remember you enjoyed the headwork /valve train/camshaft change , you had achieved. Best of luck.

Take lots of pics and keep us posted on your progress. Looks like fun to me. I did mine a few years ago and enjoyed every minute of it.What do you have planned?

Hay man, those bearings look groooovy man!!! Good thing you're doing a rebuild!! Crank looks pretty good though!! Keep up the good work and "git er dun!!!"

Thanks all, taking the block in to get checked this week. Bores look good. Coolant channels have that Bars leak stuff still left over from previous owner.

The plan is to keep the same cam (only has 1.5k miles), use the 273 heads Justin ported, and get new standard 2bbl pistons/rings. I have a brand new Holey 4160 and using the same Eddy Performer intake.

Before I pulled it #8 was letting 20% past the rings. There was also a stutter under load that I just could not figure out. Hopefully starting from scratch fixes this. And teaches me some new lessons.
