ok.. the other day, I sold my 1968 cuda and was planning on using the money from that on my 1968 dart, but you know how that goes, after a local craigslist search, I found a listing in parts and it said. -" I have 2 4 speed transmissions , 1970 duster tail panel,1972 340, Kelsey hays disc brakes, and a v8 k frame. I also have a 1972 340 4 speed petty blue duster. we replied to the add and had some very vague information on it and the parts. my dad picked me up at school at 12:00 and we took a trip.

the guy turned out to be a amc/amx restorer. fast forward a little and we came home with the duster,2 4 speeds Kelsey hays disc brake setup , extra inner fender, fenders, ect, ect.

THE DUSTER: The car started life when somebody in new York ordered a very stripped down duster but with a lot of HP!. The car was originally a basin blue 1972 340 4 speed duster, manual steering, manual brakes. the car did have white stripes. The story is that he bought it and drag raced it ,he put traction bars and driveshaft loop in it. one day while driving he was arguing with his girlfriend and ran into a bus!! lol. he badly repaired the left front frame. he painted the sides of the car and put on some weird stripes and he bought a new bumper, hood, and grille. then it sat..... last registered in 1996 in ny.

The body now is very good, NO bondo it came with a fame piece and a quarter drop off.

sorry for the long wait, heres the pics :burnout::burnout:

oh, I forgot, when he was racing it he blew up the 340 and put in a 318

NICE SCORE!!!!! Did u happen to get the fender tag? Did u look for build sheet yet?

what would this car be worth if sold with a complete kelsy hays disc brake setup and a complete 1972 340

well..... wrecked, with frame damage, missing orig numbers motor, and a lack of documentation....I would say 2500 or so, add about 250 for the disc brakes, maybe 500 for a unknown cast crank core 340. Maybe a little more if it has the correct TQ carb, correct manifolds ect.

yup some members are behind the times ...this one has already been harvested and flipped.....on to the next.

Haha.. I didn't really want to part it but it was just worth way more parted out... The whole floor and trunk needed replacing.. As did the torsion bar crossmember and the whole left front frame rail to the member same as both inner fenders... Just wasn't worth restoring and I didn't get it for a great deal.. I paid $2,250 for it

I bet what he means is not everyone supports parting 340 cars out and the same amount don't like look what I bought threads that end in a parted out car. In this case personally I can understand why you did, with nearly no way to document it.

Yeah.. No fender tag.. No build sheet and it just was unreasonable to restore this needing full resto when already restoring a 1968 dart
