Well, I was about to rebuild my 273 and 904 when something happened. I bought another drive train.

I had been keeping my eye on a rebuilt 318, 904 package that was popping up on craigslist for a few moths that was out of my budget and a little bit more performance than I was looking for. I had been so satisfied with my previous 273 heads and Cam combo from a recent top end rebuild (link) that I was pretty hell bent on keeping that build.

But the priced drop, drastically, one day so I pulled the trigger.

So here is the new project:

318 .30 over, 302 swirl port heads with bronze guide liners, competition valve job with 360ci valves installed, 1.88, 1.60. Hardened valve seats,C.C'd combustion chambers 63-65cc. Schneider Hyd cam 256-2H.450 lift, Edelbrock performer intake, MP valve covers and Air filter, Rebuilt Thermo quad 6410s with #1966 metering rods,, Milodon oil pan. Powder coated Intake, timing/water pump, air cleaner and valve covers. Rebuilt 904 trans with shift kit and new converter.

Hate to see the 273 not being used in your Barracuda but the 318 sounds like the kind of engine many of us want in our cars. Go for it! tmm

Thanks TMM. Yeah it's tough to see the 273 go. It would probably be even harder if this Barracuda was mostly original. But after I tallied up the total for parts, machining, etc. it was actually cheaper.

Me to! But a good deal is a good deal... still think the 273's are over looked I love how mine runs!:burnout: Nice ride by the way!

Is your Barracuda a original HP 273 or a 2 barrell version? Save the old engine/trans. It might ad value if you ever need or want to sell it.

It is a 2bbl version. It is also a different ext/int color than original (originally silver/red interior). My kids have already laid dibs on the car.

Nice Barracuda!

Go for it. Keep the 273 in a corner for originality if it is your numbers matching engine...

Sometimes you have to say "what the f*ck"...

Nice setup Seabee. Very similar to the 318 Justin built for me. It will move that Barracuda down the for sure.

Finally getting some time to work on it. Gas tank today. 3 coats of diamond coat and a yoga mat for the barrier.
